  • Publication number: 20140298958
Abstract: A torque tool for torqueing a receptacle lug having at least one pair of opposite sides. The tool including a block portion, a pair of protrusions, a protruding annulus, a bore, and a receptor for accepting a torque drive. The protrusions are able to correspond to and engage any one pair of opposite sides of the receptacle lug. The protruding annulus is disposed on the same plane of the block portion as the pair of protrusions, and is disposed such that the annulus can act as a pilot for the receptacle lug. The bore passes through the same plane of the block portion where the protrusions and annulus are located. When the receptor for accepting a torque drive is actuated by a torque drive, the protrusions engage any two opposite sides of the receptacle and the receptacle is either loosened or tightened.

  • Publication number: 20120248409
Abstract: Quantum dots are modified with varying amounts of (a) a redox-active moiety effective to perform charge transfer quenching, and (b) a fluorescent dye effective to perform fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET), so that the modified quantum dots have a plurality of photophysical properties. The FRET and charge transfer pathways operate independently, providing for two channels of control for varying luminescence of quantum dots having the same innate properties.

  • Publication number: 20120127564
Abstract: An interband cascade gain medium is provided. The gain medium can include at least one thick separate confinement layer comprising Ga(InAlAs)Sb between the active gain region and the cladding and can further include an electron injector region having a reduced thickness, a hole injector region comprising two hole quantum wells having a total thickness greater than about 100 ?, an active gain quantum well region separated from the adjacent hole injector region by an electron barrier having a thickness sufficient to lower a square of a wavefunction overlap between a zone-center active electron quantum well and injector hole states, and a thick AlSb barrier separating the electron and hole injectors of at least one stage of the active region.

  • Publication number: 20100160144
Abstract: A high purity nano-sized Yb3+ doped Y2O3 (Yb:Y2O3) ceramic powder with a narrow size distribution and without hard agglomerates is provided. Also provided is a process for manufacturing the same wherein water in the reaction bath is replaced by a non-water washing agent having little or no hydrogen bonding capability to inhibit the formation of hard agglomerates in the ceramic powder.

  • Patent number: 5567908
Abstract: An anti ship warhead utilizing a reactive case is disclosed. The case is a agnesium alloy which increases the blast damage once the warhead moves into the interior of a target. Moreover, the nose plate is hardened steel specially designed to cause ripping and tearing of the exterior wall as the warhead penetrates.

  • Patent number: 5114630
Abstract: Fluid products, particularly highly filled materials, are manufactured and cast in a continuous system utilizing feedforward composition quality control and plug flow. Liquid and solid raw are supplied to, and combined in, a continuous fluid flow system in which plug flow is established. Quantities of materials supplied are measured and averaged over time to determine composition proportions, which are compared to specification. Running averages are maintained for successive serial portions of the continuous plug flow stream. In-specification product is diverted to casting and off-specification to waste, after a time delay so that appropriate diversion is accomplished for each particular, composition-determined serial portion of the product flowstream.
