    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of navigation within a collection of sound documents accessible from a receiver furnished with a display device. The method comprises a first step of analysis of the documents so as to determine audio parameters termed <<low level>> specific to each document. Then, graphics identifiers of part at least of the sound documents are positioned within a graphics page, the arrangement of the graphics identifiers being dependent on the previously calculated parameters. Finally, the method comprises a step of automatic navigation by reproducing successively the sound documents according to a determined strategy taking into account the position of the identifiers of the documents in the graphics page. The invention also relates to a device able to execute a software navigation module for the reproduction of the sound documents according to a determined strategy and according to the position of the representations of the documents in a graphics page.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for equalizing a signal containing high definition television information in the presence of co-channel NTSC interference employs an equalizer having feed forward and decision feedback filters. A comb filter is inserted ahead of the equalizer when NTSC co-channel interference is present. A selected tap of the decision feedback filter is set to a zero value when the signal is being equalized during an intitial blind operating mode. The decision feedback filter taps are updated afterwards, in a decision-directed operating mode.

    Abstract: A telephone line monitoring circuit uses an optoisolator to convert the telephone line current to a voltage which is applied to the input of an AID converter. The A/D values are coarse values representing telephone line current. The A/D is sampled at a predetermined interval to identify changes introduced by the telephone company central office, and to take those changes into account when deciding if an extension telephone has gone off-hook. When a customer causes an extension telephone to go off-hook, the line current divides between the extension telephone and the IRD modem, and such change is detected.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a process and device for labeling a region in which the regions are defined by the juxtaposition of segments of a line, which are portions of a line. During a line scan of an image, the invention increments and allocates a label to each segment encountered on the current line when this segment is not connected to any segments of the preceding line. The invention allocates the same label to each segment encountered on the current line as that assigned to the segment of the preceding line when it is connected to the segment. The invention allocates the same label to each segment encountered on the current line as that assigned to the first of the segments of the preceding line. In this last case, the invention stores the relationship between the labels of the successive segments to one and the same segment of the current line.
