Patent number: 5205688Abstract: A fastening device in the form of a plug and a screw is adapted for installation in a blind bore of a thick wall or in a through hole in a thin wall. The plug is formed as an elongated body having a central longitudinal hole. The body has inner and outer end portions and two parallel slots extending longitudinally between the end portions to define four legs arranged circumferentially around the body. The legs diverge from the end portions to form an increasing diameter for the body which reaches a maximum at the center of the body. When the plug is inserted into a blind bore the legs are displaced inwardly to reduce the size of the central longitudinal hole so that when the screw is inserted into the plug, the screw will exert force on the legs to press the legs against the wall with strong radial forces.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 1991Date of Patent: April 27, 1993Assignee: Thorsman & Co AktiebolagInventor: Inge Sundstrom

Patent number: 4988249Abstract: A method for fastening an attachment or suspension device to a porous support surface, preferably plasterboard, and also a device for carrying out the method. The device is secured to the support surface by means of fastener means, which preferably have a V-like configuration, the legs of which are driven through through-passing holes in the device attachment part. The holes have provided therein specially formed device parts which, when the fastener means is driven into the support surface, are operative in causing the legs of the fastener means to progressively diverge further within the support surface, such as to create force-absorbing crushed zones in abutment with the fastener legs.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 1988Date of Patent: January 29, 1991Assignee: Thorsman & Co. Patent number: 4883921Abstract: Jointing clamp (1) intended for electrical conductors and comprising an insulating, conical outer housing (2) having arranged therein a similarly conical inner sleeve (3). The narrow end of the outer sleeve (2) has located internally therein a seat (7) against which a metal ball (6) is locked by the inner sleeve (3) in a manner to fully close the narrow end of the inner sleeve. The outer sleeve (2) is extended with a tubular part (9) which surrounds a through-passing hole (10) in the seat (7) and thus forms a protective tubular device through which access can be had to the metal ball (6) with the aid of a test probe but which will prevent unintentional finger contacts with the ball. This enables electrical measurements to be made safely at joint locations without the need to remove the jointing clamps therefrom.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 1987Date of Patent: November 28, 1989Assignee: Thorsman & Co. Patent number: 4844419Abstract: A cable carrier (1) for mounting power cable or lines (3) on support insulators (2). The carrier (1) comprises a gripping device having two legs (4, 5) each of which carries a respective roller (12, 13), such that when the carrier is mounted in position the rollers are located on a respective side of the insulator and extend transversely to the cable (3). The rollers are inclined so that in projection the roller axes intersect one another at a point located above the support insulator (2). The cable carrier (1) is constructed so that the cable (3), subsequent to being run or drawn, can be transferred to the insulator without needing to be lifted away while removing the cable carrier (1). This is effected by rotating the carrier, so as to cause the cable (3) to slide along the inclined rollers (12, 13) and down onto the insulator. The gripping device is then opened and the carrier removed, by displacing the carrier laterally in relation to the insulator.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 1987Date of Patent: July 4, 1989Assignee: Thorsman & Co. Patent number: 4797507Abstract: A coaxial outlet box which is intended to be mounted on a wall, an electrical conduit front or like support surface and which can be fastened directly to the support surface or to a conventional conduit box recessed in the surface. The outlet box includes a frame-like base plate (2); a connector holder plate (5) which is arranged at right angles to the base plate adjacent a straight edge thereof and in which one or more coaxial connectors are arranged parallel with the support surface; and a hood-like cover (1) which is constructed to protect the connection of the connectors (6) with the associated cables (7). An opening in the cover side wall (10) provides access to the connector or connectors (6) for connection to respective cables.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 1987Date of Patent: January 10, 1989Assignee: Thorsman & Co. Patent number: 4712342Abstract: Apparatus for the fire-sealing of a lead-through for at least one cable through a building framework comprising an inner pipe filled with precompressed elastic fire-resistant foam material and an outer pipe surrounding the inner pipe. The apparatus is mounted in a hole in the framework and the two pipes are connected to respective outer walls of the framework. Between the pipes there is a gap admitting relative movement of the pipes. The gap is sealed by the foam material filling the inner pipe and a portion of which extends into the outer pipe and presses against its inner surface.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 1986Date of Patent: December 15, 1987Assignee: Thorsman & Co.
