Abstract: A device for introduction of primary combustion air into the primary heating space of a coke oven chamber admits primary air through ports in the top of a oven chamber or in the oven chamber walls above the door or in the chamber door or in several or all of the mentioned positions These ports have inserts that are equipped with spouts, with the spouts having an opening through which primary air is conducted at a chamfered angle onto the coke cake. The primary air from the opening ports in the coke oven chamber top streams to the coke oven at an angle of less than 90° and primary air from the opening ports in the chamber wall above the door or in the door streams to the coke oven at an angle of greater than 0°. Also shown is a method for use with the described device.
