Patents Assigned to Timron, Inc.
  • Patent number: 4235390
Abstract: The reel is constructed with a pair of end frames, each of which has an end board provided with elongated apertures in the end board. The apertures permit viewing of the contents of the reel when the reel is mounted in a horizontal storage position. The apertures also provide a manual means for grasping of the reel in order to remove the reel from a shipping carton. The hook-containing strips of each end frame terminate short of the corners of the cardboard to mount the reel contents in a slightly suspended condition in a shipping carton.

  • Patent number: 4231475
Abstract: A shipping carton is made with a wrapper which is placed between the end frames of a reel. The wrapper has folded over flaps at the transverse edges which are biased against the end boards of the respective frames and abutted at the ends against the hook strips of the reel. The placement of the wrapper between the end frames and the abutment of the flaps against the hook strips serve to strengthen the carton. The winding machine includes inwardly directed clips on the outer ends of holders on the end frames for holding the hook strips in rigid condition during winding of a pile fabric on the reel.

  • Patent number: 4074874
Abstract: The hook strips of the end frames are provided with slidable locking plates which retain an impaled fabric on the hooks of the hook strips. Each locking plate is movable from a position which permits impaling of the fabric on the hook strips to a position closer to the hooks of the hook strips in order to retain the impaled fabric in place. Each locking plate has projections with sharp points which pass through the fabric to enhance securement.

  • Patent number: 4057143
Abstract: In order to form a shipping carton, the wrapper has adhesive such as a hot melt glue applied along the two side edges. Thereafter, the wrapper is circumferentially wrapped about the loaded reel to adhere the wrapper to the protruding ears on the end boards while leaving an end of the wrapper project. Next, this projecting edge of the wrapper is provided with a similar adhesive and folded against the opposite edge of the wrapper in overlapping relationship. At this time, suction is applied against the side wall of the carton to support the overlapped edge of the wrapper against the overlapping edge. The flat seam formed by the overlapped edges of the wrapper may be disposed at a corner of the carton or along a side of the carton. The end flaps of any carton may also be adhesively secured together by the described technique by holding one portion under suction while the other portion is pressed against the held portion.

  • Patent number: 3944157
Abstract: The fabric reel end frame for a shipping carton is constructed with radiating hook containing sections secured in metal-to-metal contact to a centrally located flat outer plate. In addition, a board, such as cardboard, is sandwiched between the plate and hook containing sections and a compression plate is mounted centrally between the hook containing sections. The board is provided with holes through which protuberances on the outer plate pass into contact with the hook containing sections and rivets pass through the protuberances to secure the plate to the hook containing sections. Drill holes are formed in the outer plate to facilitate driving of the end frame in a winder for winding pile fabric onto the reel.
