  • Patent number: 11958661
Abstract: A lid for a container assembly is disclosed. The lid is configured for locking engagement with the container such that accidental or unintentional removal of the lid from the container is resisted. The lid includes an outer skirt that overlies the outer surface of the container about an upper rim. The outer skirt includes a plurality of lid locking members that are disposed at spaced apart intervals about the outer periphery of the skirt and extend inwardly, relative to the outer skirt, for engaging an outwardly extending container lip. Disposition of the lid on the container is with effect that the plurality of lid locking members deflect outwardly as the lid is displaced downwardly over the container lip, the lid locking members returning to their inwardly disposed position once clear of the lip. The inward disposition of the lid locking members effects a robust engagement between the container and lid.

  • Patent number: 7802982
Abstract: An improved mold assembly for producing an article and for use with an air source is disclosed. The mold assembly is of the type including at least two mold portions configurable to form a mold having an interior mold cavity in the shape of said article, one or more of said mold portions each including an interior conduit for delivering air from said air source in use. The improvement comprises, for each of said one or more mold portions, a pair of mold parts each having an abutment surface, one of said abutment surfaces having defined therein a groove. The pair of mold parts is disposed in an operative configuration whereat they define at least in part said each mold portion, whereat the abutment surfaces lie flush against one another and whereat the groove defines at least part of the interior conduit in said each mold portion.

  • Patent number: 7326045
Abstract: Core portion of injection mold forms a central boss. An annular trough surrounds the central boss, the boss forming an inner trough wall. An annular core ring is positioned in the annular trough adjacent the inner trough wall. A plurality of slide segments are attached coaxially adjacent the annular core ring toward the cavity portion, being laterally slidable relative to the core ring, the slide segments defining in part the rim of the molded container. A centering ring is secured to and protrudes from the cavity portion toward the core portion, positioned such that in said closed position the centering ring engages the slide segments to prevent outward lateral movement of the slide segments. As the centering ring disengages the slide segments upon opening of the mold, the slide segments are free to move outwardly laterally as the ring and slide segments are withdrawn from the molded part.

  • Publication number: 20050266111
Abstract: An insert system for an injection mold apparatus is provided. The mold has a mold cavity plate (14) and a mold core plate (12) each secured to mold bases (16, 18), relatively movable between open and closed positions, each having opposing faces, the faces meeting to define a mold cavity between the two faces. At least one of the mold plate faces defines a facial pocket (40) therein for insertion of a mold insert (30). The mold insert is secured to an insert rod (36). The mold plate having the facial pocket (40) defines a passageway (46) extending from the facial pocket through the plate (12) and mold base (16). The insert rod is insertable into the passageway to a position where the insert sits within said facial pocket at a prelock position, where said insert is only partially inserted into said facial pocket. Preferably, the insert is biased in this prelock position.

  • Patent number: 6604934
Abstract: A plastic injection mold is disclosed for molding a cylindrical container having an enlarged annular rim and an annular flange spaced below the rim. The mold includes a core portion and a cavity portion which define therebetween the container to be molded. The core portion includes an inner, annular ejector ring defining a portion of the enlarged container rim. The core portion also includes an outer, annular ejector ring coaxially located adjacent to the inner ejector ring. Axially movable first push rods are connected to the inner ejector ring for moving both rings outwardly to partially eject a molded container upon opening of the mold. The core portion also includes cylinders and pistons connected to the outer ejector ring for separating and moving the outer ejector ring outwardly relative to the inner ejector ring to complete the ejection of the molded container from the mold core.

  • Patent number: 6543635
Abstract: A plastic container lid is disclosed for a container having double locking flanges around its upper peripheral edge for locking engagement with the lid. The lid has a central portion in a peripheral annular skirt. The skirt has an annular groove dividing the skirt into an upper portion and a lower tear-off strip portion. The upper portion has intermittent locking flange segments for engaging one of the container locking flanges. The tear-off strip portion has a second locking flange for engaging the other of the container locking flanges. Thin membrane windows are formed in the skirt upper portion on either side of the intermittent locking flange segments and bordering on the annular groove, so that the membrane windows form weakened notches upon removal of the tear-off strip portion to facilitate upward deflection of the lid annular skirt in the area of the intermittent flange segments to facilitate removal of the lid.

  • Patent number: 6416315
Abstract: A plastic injection mold is disclosed which is particularly suitable for molding plastic objects such as containers. The mold has a core assembly and a mating cavity assembly which define the shape of the object to be molded therein. Movable collets are located in the mold to define the shape of a portion of the object, such as a peripheral flange or rim. The collets are slidably guided by cam pins, so that upon opening of the mold, the collets can be lifted by actuators to separate and release the molded object. A collet lifting ring is located between the collets and the actuators to ensure that all of the collets separate simultaneously.
