Patent number: 7044179Abstract: An elastic wheel includes a disk (1) secured to an axle hub, a rim (12) for mounting a tire, and an elastic member (10) arranged between the inner peripheral surface of the rim (12) and the outer peripheral surface of the disk (1). The elastic wheel is separable either between an outer peripheral surface portion (2) and a radial disk portion (3) of the disk (1), or between the inner peripheral surface of the rim (12) and the elastic member (10), or at both locations. This construction ensures long-lasting passenger comfort, anti-vibration performance and noise-suppression performance of the elastic wheel and allows optimization of these characteristics depending on applications of the wheel even during its use. The elastic wheel facilitates rim assembly as well as core mounting. Also, in cases where rubber is used to serve as the elastic member in the elastic wheel, vulcanization can be carried out without using an integrated rim unit, thereby making it possible to reduce the size of vulcanization apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 2001Date of Patent: May 16, 2006Assignees: Bridgestone Corporation, Topy Industries, LimitedInventors: Katsumi Tashiro, Hirohumi Kikuchi

Patent number: 6981535Abstract: An elastic wheel includes a disk (1) having a base rim (2), a rim (3) for supporting a tire (10), and an annular elastic rubber body (4) arranged between the outer peripheral surface of the base rim (2) and the inner peripheral surface of the rim (3). A gap is formed between the elastic rubber body (4) and the outer peripheral surface of the base rim (2) or the inner peripheral surface of the rim (3). The elastic rubber body (4) with the gap has a spring constant that shifts from a smaller value to a larger value as the input load increases, so that it absorbs vibration under small input conditions while being prevented from undergoing substantial deformation under large input conditions. The elastic wheel ensures riding comfortablesess performance and provides improved vibrationproof performance and soundproof performance, regardless of whether the input load is small or large, without sacrificing durability and safety.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 2000Date of Patent: January 3, 2006Assignees: Bridgestone Corporation, Topy Industries, LimitedInventors: Hirohumi Kikuchi, Katsumi Tashiro, Masanori Murase, Keiichiro Mizuno

Patent number: 6679952Abstract: A method of coating aluminum and aluminum alloy substrates not only imparts a corrosion resistance comparable or even superior to that afforded by chromate treatment but also improves the adhesion to the coating film, while the luster of aluminum is fully retained, notwithstanding the use of a chromium-free treating solution, resulting in an improved coated article with the coated surface having a metallic luster. The method comprises treating an aluminum or aluminum alloy substrate with an acidic solution containing sulfuric acid and 0.2 to 0.4 g/L of a ferric ion and having a pH value of 0.6 to 2.0, subjecting the same to chemical conversion treatment with an acidic coat-forming agent containing 0.01 to 0.125 g/L of a zirconium or titanium ion, 0.01 to 1.0 g/L of a phosphate ion, and 0.01 to 0.5 g/L of a fluoride ion and having a pH value of 1.5 to 4.0, followed by coating.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2001Date of Patent: January 20, 2004Assignees: Topy Industries, Limited, Nippon Paint Co., Ltd.Inventors: Toru Shimizu, Takayuki Sato, Tatsuya Oguri, Keiji Maetsuji, Kazuo Nobe

Patent number: 5561980Abstract: A tandem master cylinder having a small-diameter cylinder formed on the same axis as a cylinder bore in a floating piston, communicating with a primary fluid pressure chamber and a secondary fluid pressure chamber. A small-diameter piston is movably inserted in the small-diameter cylinder, dividing the primary fluid pressure chamber from the secondary fluid pressure chamber. A small-diameter piston spring is mounted in the small-diameter cylinder, pressing the small-diameter piston toward the secondary fluid pressure chamber. A stop is provided in the small-diameter cylinder to stop the forward movement of the small-diameter piston in the small-diameter cylinder. An elastic member is disposed in an unbiased state between the small-diameter piston and a cylinder front end wall. The elastic member has an elastic force in a direction of compression which is greater than that of the small-diameter piston spring.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 1995Date of Patent: October 8, 1996Assignees: Topy Industries, Limited, Miyako Jidosha Kogyo KabushikigaishaInventor: Akio Nagasawa

Patent number: 5452608Abstract: A device for monitoring a vehicle pneumatic tire in-situ on a wheel rim comprising a probe to be sealably mounted to the rim with a hollow stem projecting through the rim into the air cavity of the tire. A temperature sensor mounted in the stem to be exposed to the temperature in the cavity, and the interior of the stem being in use in direct communication with the air cavity. A head at one end of the stem to be external attached to the rim for mounting the probe thereto, and respective conductor extending from the stem through the probe head to project therefrom in a direction generally parallel to the surface of the rim and to convey processable information relating to temperature and pressure conditions within the tire cavity. The probe head is interlockable with an anchor member secured to the wheel rim.The probe is used in conjunction with a terminal.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 1993Date of Patent: September 26, 1995Assignee: Topy Industries, LimitedInventor: Clifford R.
