    Abstract: In accordance with presently disclosed embodiments, an seismically stabilized uninterruptable power supply (UPS) is provided. The UPS utilizes a series of rails coupled to the bottom of the UPS along with a bracket affixed to an external support surface to stabilize the UPS. The bracket may comprise two sides coupled to a bottom, wherein the sides are substantially parallel to each other and perpendicular to the bottom. The rails and bracket may further comprise a series of aligned openings such that when the rails and bracket are juxtaposed, they may be secured together through bolts. The external support surface may be a layer of cement or other sturdy material in which hardware is embedded. The embedded hardware may be either lagged into the surface or may be poured bar.

    Abstract: Presently disclosed embodiments are directed to a process and mechanism for reducing human error and manual labor used to sweep pockets on a mail sorting machine. Specifically, the disclosed embodiments utilize a sliding drawer holding a receiving container that can mate in a flush arrangement with an output pocket of a mail sorting machine. Thus, sweeping of mail product from the output pocket to the receiving container can be accomplished in one motion that empties the entire output pocket into the receiving container. This sweeping may be performed by an operator without any errors caused by sweeping to an incorrect receiving container or issues caused by dropping sorted mail product and picking it back up in a different order.

    Abstract: In accordance with presently disclosed embodiments, a 5-switch power conversion circuit that improves the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of a DC-DC converter with a double chopper topology is provided. The power conversion circuit adds minimal complexity through an additional switch, while preserving the benefits of a 3-level boost converter topology. The disclosed power conversion circuit uses four switches that are arranged in a 3-level boost converter arrangement, and a fifth switch that is connected in parallel with two of the other switches. The fifth switch helps to reduce the conduction power losses through the DC-DC converter by providing a one-switch ON-state conduction path instead of a two-switch path during part of the DC-DC power conversion cycle.

The bank note processing system includes a detection module which has a detector housing having a first compartment and a second compartment separated by a light baffle. An illumination source and a first sensor module are disposed in the first compartment of the detector housing and a second sensor module is disposed in the second compartment of the detector housing. The illumination source directs light to the bank note and the first sensor module measures the bank note's florescence at a first point in time. The second sensor module measures the bank note's phosphorescence at a second point in time and the detection module determines whether the bank note is a counterfeit bank note using the measured florescence and the measured phosphorescence.

    Abstract: Presently disclosed embodiments are directed to systems and methods for bundling smaller stacks of bank notes into larger sized bundles that are efficient for transportation. The system may include an in-line bundler disposed along pockets of a currency processor for receiving stacks of bank notes directly from the pocket. That way, the smaller stacks of bank notes do not have to be removed from the currency processor and transported to a separate bundler machine. Instead, the currency processor features a desired number of bundler machines disposed in-line with the corresponding pockets where the bank notes are initially received and stacked. This arrangement may enable efficient stacking and bundling of bank notes sorted via the currency processor.

The calibration data can be stored in a computer-readable medium. The bank note is identified as a soiled bank note if the identified soiling level exceeds a threshold soiling level.
