Patent number: 6250381Abstract: The present invention provides a radiator achieving a structure that enables integrated brazing, facilitates mounting of an automatic oil cooler and repair on areas with defective brazing and realizes good mountability and recyclability. A tank portion 4 at which tubes 2 of the radiator are inserted is constituted of a first L-shaped tank member 30 and a second L-shaped tank member 40. Prior to the process for assembling the tank portion 4, intake/outlet pipes 9 and 10 are mounted at the first L-shaped tank member 30 and an A/T oil cooler 46 is mounted at the second L-shaped tank member 40 to facilitate mounting of the A/T oil cooler 46 inside the tank portions 4. In addition, since at least the tank portion 4, the tubes 2, the fins 3 and the side plate 11 are brazed together as an integrated unit in a furnace, the production of the radiator is facilitated.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2000Date of Patent: June 26, 2001Assignees: Zexel Corporation, Toyo Radiator Co., Ltd.Inventor: Kunihiko Nishishita

Patent number: 5797450Abstract: A base plate 20 is provided with an oil inflow hole 20b in the form of a through-hole. The oil inflow hole 20b includes an area overlapping oil inlet communication holes 1 of plates 5 within a region inside an annular grove 20a of the base plate 20, and has a planar shape extending beyond the outer rim of the overlapping area. Thus, in the base plate constituting a contact end when the oil cooler is mounted to the engine block, a decrease in communication resistance of the oil communication hole provided therein as well as a smooth circulation of oil is achieved.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1997Date of Patent: August 25, 1998Assignees: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha, Toyo Radiator Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tsuyoshi Kawabe, Hiroshi Yoneguchi, Atsushi Arisaka, Takahiro Kuwabara, Tadamichi Aoyama

Patent number: 5193608Abstract: A radiator with a fan is arranged at a forward tilt under the footrest floor part of a cab floor of a cab-over-engine vehicle. The fan confronts the front of the engine. The fan is connected with the radiator through an air duct, a central axis of the air duct rises rearwardly. The fan has at its center a boss shaped into a truncated cone, the extremity of each of the blades in its longitudinal direction being parallel to the axis of the boss. The air duct has one opening end shaped into a cylinder which partially covers the blades of the fan.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 1992Date of Patent: March 16, 1993Assignee: Toyo Radiator co., Ltd.Inventors: Yoshikazu Sekine, Tadashi Mizuno

Patent number: 5014775Abstract: An oil cooler for motor oil used in engines has an element core, a base on which the core is placed, and a casing housing the element core. The core consists of a plurality of sets of two elements being combined together face-to-face and a fin member which is placed on the set of elements. These two elements and one fin member are join together to make a single unit. Several units are contained in the casing of the oil cooler. Cooling water circulates through the flat hollow doughnut-like elements combined. A partition is formed in the interior of the elements combined and a set of cooling water supply hole and exit hole is provided at both the sides of the partition. The core of elements and a base on which the core is placed are brazing adhered or fixed to each other in a hot vacuum furnace and then a dish-like cap is applied to the base. Motor oil to be cooled is led from the engine block to a filter mechanism through several fin members situated between elements.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 1990Date of Patent: May 14, 1991Assignee: Toyo Radiator Co., Ltd.Inventor: Hiroshi Watanabe
