  • Patent number: 6546598
Abstract: A vehicle luggage compartment structure, facilitating the putting in and taking out of small articles from a tray provided in a luggage compartment, and enabling the luggage compartment to be partitioned by the tray by fixing a box to a floor surface of the luggage compartment. A first protruding portion and a second protruding portion for engagement of the tray are engaged with a first guide groove and a first anchor hole of the box, respectively, to hold the tray in the box. By sliding the first protruding portion for engagement along the first guide groove to pull the tray out to the rear of the vehicle, a top wall of the luggage compartment no longer covers an open top side of the tray, thereby enabling small articles to be easily placed into and taken out from the tray.

  • Publication number: 20030056770
Abstract: An absorbent, such as, for example, an active carbon, is provided in an intake air passage, for example, in an air cleaner, to efficiently adsorb fuel vapor. To ensure that fuel vapor adsorbed into the intake air passage can be efficiently desorbed even when there is only a small amount of the intake air, an intake throttle valve is provided upstream of the adsorbent and an opening of the intake throttle valve is throttled so as to decompress an area near the adsorbent. Desorption of fuel vapor also can be efficiently promoted by using a heater to directly heat the adsorbent in the intake air passage or by heating the intake air to indirectly heat the adsorbent.

  • Publication number: 20030024506
Abstract: A throttle valve is opened after stopping an engine to prevent the valve from sticking. Then, when a temperature of the valve has become lower than the polymerization temperature, the valve is closed to seal the vapor of the HCs in a surge tank downstream. Changes in the temperature of the valve are, for example, estimated based on a temperature of an intake air detected by an intake temperature sensor.

  • Patent number: 6505874
Abstract: A luggage compartment structure allows a tray to be detachably placed on a floor surface of the luggage compartment on which a luggage mat is spread, or detachably placed on the undersurface of an upper back panel of the luggage compartment. Further, the luggage compartment structure allows the tray to be accommodated in a recessed storage portion provided in a floorboard member. As a result, the tray can be effectively placed on, over or under the luggage mat of the luggage compartment as required to accommodate various luggage loading configurations.

  • Patent number: 6503962
Abstract: The present invention is for providing a synthetic resin composition capable of effectively deodorizing amine malodor causing substances such as trimethyl amine. In a synthetic resin composition comprising an aqueous medium, a surfactant, and a polymer latex and a filler dispersed in the aqueous medium by the surfactant, a transitional metal supported silica gel having at least one selected from the group consisting of a transitional metal and a transitional metal compound supported by a silica gel and an activated carbon were used as the filler. Since the transitional metal or the transitional metal compound has an performs extremely well as a Lewis acid, it forms a complex with a Lewis base having an unpaired electron. That is, a malodor causing substance such as amines and ammonia having a nitrogen atom with an unpaired electron can be adsorbed efficiently.

  • Publication number: 20020139345
Abstract: An oil pump for an internal combustion engine is provided with an intake port and a discharge port, each formed in a pump housing. The oil pump has a power pump serving as a first main pump and an electric pump serving as a second auxiliary pump, both of which may be contained in a same pump housing. The power pump is rotated by a driving force of a crankshaft, and the electric pump is rotated by the driving force of an electric motor. This makes it possible to reduce the maximum capacity of the power pump serving as the main pump. In a vehicle operating range where the oil discharging pressure generated by the power pump becomes insufficient, the electric pump serving as the auxiliary pump is operated together with the power pump such that appropriate oil discharging pressure or appropriate oil discharging quantity can be achieved. The electric pump may also be allowed to operate for a period of time after shutting off of the engine.

  • Publication number: 20020135106
Abstract: A filter production method produces a filter having a shape substantially identical to the shape of a forming surface by extruding semi-molten fibers to the forming surface. When the semi-molten fibers are extruded to the forming surface, the semi-molten fibers are gathered to upstanding surface portions of the forming surface. Therefore, a sufficient amount of fibers can be layered onto the upstanding surface portions, so that the layering amount of fibers on the upstanding surface portions of the forming surface will not be considerably reduced in comparison with the layering amounts on other portions of the forming surface.

  • Patent number: 6454827
Abstract: A filter medium has a function member accommodated between two fiber layers. A production method for manufacturing a filter medium includes the steps of: preparing a first fiber layer having a shape identical to that of a side surface of the filter medium; disposing a function member on a surface of the first fiber layer; and forming a second fiber layer by spinning partially melted fibers onto the function member disposed on the surface of the first fiber layer. Therefore, it is unnecessary to carry out press-forming in a state in which the function member is sandwiched between nonwoven fabrics, and a countermeasure to prevent the function member from falling out and a countermeasure to prevent the nonwoven fabric from being torn by the function member are unnecessary.

  • Patent number: 6439622
Abstract: There is difference between coefficients of thermal expansion of the first member and the second member. A mismatch occurs between the walls of the first member and the second member when the temperature is changed significantly. Stress generated by this mismatch is distributed among and received by respective fitting sections of respective concave portions and respective convex portions. Because these fitting sections exist above and below the joining member, stress generated by the mismatch is distributed and received by the fitting sections before the stress reaches the joining member. Therefore, only a little stress acts on the joining member.

  • Publication number: 20020095920
Abstract: A seal member is attached to a peripheral edge portion of a filter body by being fused to semi-melted fibers that form the filter body when the semi-melted fibers are layered over a forming surface. Therefore, the formation of the filter body and the attachment of the seal member can be simultaneously accomplished.

  • Patent number: 6415478
Abstract: An attachment structure for attaching an assist grip to a vehicle body is provided wherein the assist grip has a contractible member formed integrally on its grip body such that the contractible member includes large-width portions and small-width portions. The large-width portions have a larger width than attachment holes of a ceiling base member and the vehicle body when the contractible member is in the normal state, but the width of the large-width portions may be reduced to be smaller than those of the attachment holes when the contractible member is contracted. The small-width portions have a smaller width than the attachment holes so as to be fitted in the holes. After fitting the contractible member into the attachment hole of the vehicle body, a lock pin is inserted into a space formed in the contractible member so as to restrict contraction of the contractible member.
