Patent number: 11871350Abstract: Extended sleep in a wireless device. In an embodiment, synchronized parameters, used by a wireless device to define an extended-sleep cycle, are stored at a system. Based on the synchronized parameters, the system determines a transmission time at which to transmit a message over the wireless communication network such that the message will be received by the wireless device during a portion of the extended-sleep cycle during which the wireless device is monitoring paging occasions. The message is then queued until it is transmitted at the transmission time.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 2021Date of Patent: January 9, 2024Assignee: Tracie Wireless LLCInventors: Jonathan Siann, Murat Karsi

Publication number: 20230198794Abstract: Messaging between an ultra-tag and external microcontroller. In an embodiment, a transmitting device is communicatively connected to a receiving device by a clear-to-communicate line and request line. When data to be transmitted has normal priority, the transmitting device detects whether the clear-to-communicate line indicates that the receiving device is available, indicates a request to transmit on the request line if so, waits until the receiving device is available and then indicates a request to transmit on the request line if not, after indicating a request to transmit, transmits the data when the clear-to-communicate line indicates that the receiving device is unavailable, and, after transmitting the data, releases the indication of the request to transmit on the request line. On the other hand, when the data has high priority, the transmitting device indicates a request to transmit on the request line, regardless of an indication on the clear-to-communicate line.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 14, 2023Publication date: June 22, 2023Applicant: Tracie Wireless LLCInventor: Christopher D. Patent number: 11246092Abstract: Lightweight messaging between a cloud-based platform and compact wireless device. The wireless device may transmit an initial message to a cloud-based platform, and receive an initial response message from the platform that specifies an interval. In response, the wireless device may transmit a reporting message to the platform that identifies the wireless device and indicates a status of the wireless device, set a reporting interval to the specified interval, and, upon expiration of each of a plurality of the reporting interval, transmit a new reporting message to the platform. The reporting interval may be subsequently changed by update messages from the platform. In an embodiment, to reduce resource consumption at the wireless device, the wireless device does not transmit an acknowledgement message to the platform in response to the update messages. Rather, the platform infers acknowledgement based on subsequent actions of the wireless device.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2020Date of Patent: February 8, 2022Assignee: Tracie Wireless LLCInventor: Christopher D. Patent number: 11071059Abstract: Preventing peak current draw in a wireless device. In an embodiment, a data payload to be transmitted is segmented into data payload segment(s) based on the data payload size and a peak current rating of the wireless device's battery, such that each data payload segment has a segment size which is estimated to result, during transmission of the data payload segment, in a maximum current draw from the battery that is less than the peak current rating of the battery. Then, each data payload segment is transmitted, such that the transmission of one data payload segment does not overlap with the transmission of any other data payload segment.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2020Date of Patent: July 20, 2021Assignee: TRACIE WIRELESS LLCInventor: Murat Karsi

Patent number: 11057833Abstract: Cross-layer sleep control in a wireless device. In an embodiment, parameter(s) are stored in association with a system component and each of a plurality of power-saving configurations. When a predetermined type of event is detected, a next event and a time span until the next event is anticipated to occur is determined. For each system component required for the next event, the parameter(s) associated with the system component are retrieved for each power-saving configuration, and one of the power-saving configurations is selected based on the retrieved parameter(s) and the time span. Each system component is then control to transition to its selected power-saving configuration.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 2018Date of Patent: July 6, 2021Assignee: TRACIE WIRELESS LLCInventor: Murat Karsi
