  • Patent number: 8463878
Abstract: A server enables a user at a station to scan a document. The station has a computer connected to the network, a browser installed on the computer to enable the user to browse the network, and a scanner in communication with the computer. The server has a database of scanner drivers, a driver selection system that enables the user to select a driver for the scanner from the database of scanner drivers, and a delivery system that transfers a selected driver to the computer and causes the computer to execute the driver. The user uses the browser and the driver selection system to select a driver for the scanner. The delivery system then sends the driver to the computer, and the computer executes the driver. The driver uses the scanner to scan a document, and scanning data corresponding to the document is saved in a predetermined location.

  • Patent number: 7912295
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for dynamically refine the threshold values of R (Red), G (Green), B (Blue) colors for determining a borderline pixel in response to the values of a background image, thereby to precisely determine the borderlines of the Area of Interest (AOI). The method of the invention first searches the borderline pixels of a scanned image according to the standard differences of the R, G, B values of the pixels. Then, approximate the R, G, B threshold values of the borderline pixels by repeatedly averaging the current R, G, B values of the borderline pixels and the previous R, G, B threshold values until the difference is less than a predetermined value. The approximated R, G, B threshold values are set for the new R, G, B threshold values for determining the attribute of a pixel for subsequent prescanned images. Accordingly, the AOI can be automatically selected by reading the image circumscribed by the borderline pixels.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus having a light source for a transparent sheet of a scanner that includes a lamp, a reflective plate, a spreading plate and a protective plate. The light rays emitted by the lamp are used to scan a transparent sheet, the reflective plate in the arc shape reflects the light rays onto the scanning platform and there is an aperture on the predetermined position of the reflective plate to decrease the illumination for distributing uniformly the light rays. Besides, the spreading plate has a plurality of perforations to advance the light rays distributed uniformly. The protective plate made of the material pervious to light protects the components of this invention. As those described above, there are many advantages for the present invention, such as the structure is simple, the cost is low, and is much practical and can highly improve the performance of a scanner for a transparent sheet.

  • Patent number: 7405849
Abstract: The present invention relates to a curvilinear scanner including a main unit, a transmission mechanism, a curvilinear transmission shaft, a curviform document stand and an optical sensing module. During the scanning process, the optical sensing module conducts a curvilineal movement. Since the motion vector on the horizontal axis is shorter, it reduces the volume of the scanning device. By the curvilinear scanning way, it can scan an article with curve surface.

  • Patent number: 7375863
Abstract: An image reading device is activated by the light interference of a light path. The image reading device comprises at least an image sensing element, a picture and an image changing mechanism such as a picture conveying module, picture rotating module, a hole or a soft button with a picture in the inner side. The user may use a finger or other objects to interfere with the image generated in the image sensing element. By detecting the changes of the image, a predetermined activation process of the image reading device is therefore started.

  • Patent number: RE42269
Abstract: A double side scanner module which consists of a U-shaped inversion device and two image information reading devices is provided for reading images on the two sides of an original in a single pass. The U-shaped inversion device has two ends for providing a paper feeding path and a paper output path respectively. The two ends are at the same side for the convenience of operation. At both of the two ends, there is a glass window. Beneath each of the glass windows, there is an image information reading device. When an original is fed into the paper feeding end and conveyed through the first glass window, the first image information reading device starts to read the image on the first side of the original. When the original is conveyed through the U-shaped inversion device, the scanned side will be inverted to the other side.

  • Patent number: RE42595
Abstract: A command conversion interface between an image machine with a plurality of hard keys and an image requestor is disclosed. When the command conversion interface detects and determines the activation of a specific hard key of the image machine, digital image information from the image machine is provided for the image requestor through the command conversion interface to execute a designated task, which has not been built in the image machine. In the command conversion interface, the designated task is interpreted by a destination command script, and the destination command script is processed by a compiler along with the digital image information, then transmitted to the image requestor to execute the task. The relationship between the specific hard key and the designated task refers to a new correlation table of the command conversion interface.

  • Patent number: RE43087
Abstract: An image scanner performing multiple scanning operations for a single scan line is disclosed. The additional scanning operations are performed between two adjacent pixels. For a double scanning mode, the CCD performs one scanning operation for a scan line at a first position. Then, the CCD is moved from the first position to a second position along the X-direction to perform the other scanning operation at the second position. The distance between the first and the second positions is a half of the distance between two adjacent pixels. The scanning data of the two scanning operations are alternatively arranged and converted into final image data. By this way, a low-pixel-density CCD can be used to obtain a high-pixel-density scanning quality.
