Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for generating viable pattern-transfers for an itinerary-planning system. The method commences with the identification of pairs of patterns along fixed transit routes that are proximate one another. Each of the patterns include a number of stops connected by pattern segments traveled in a specific order. Pattern-transfers are identified between the stops along an inbound pattern of the pairs and the stops along an outbound pattern of the pairs. At least one of the pattern-transfers is discarded if traveling from the inbound pattern to the outbound pattern via the at least one of the pattern-transfers is unadvantageous compared to traveling from the inbound pattern to the outbound pattern via at least one other of the pattern-transfers. The undiscarded pattern-transfers are stored in storage for use by an itinerary-planning system.

Abstract: A method and system for paratransit run-cutting is provided. A target number of paratransit vehicles is determined for each of a set of time intervals. A target number of trips corresponding to the target number of paratransit vehicles is generated for each time interval, each of said mock trips being defined such that a vehicle performing one of said mock trips in one of said time intervals is able to perform any of said mock trips in an immediately subsequent one of said time intervals. The target number of mock trips for each of the time intervals is entered into a fixed-route transit run-cutting application. Paratransit runs are created using fixed-route transit runs generated by said fixed-route transit run-cutting application.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for training a person in route management are based on a personal computer. The apparatus may be used for example to train a bus driver to follow a new or changed route. A data store stores data streams corresponding to different kinds of information of the route, including video of the route, audio data, sound data, GPS and time data, and vehicle engine management data. A VDU and loudspeaker are used as output devices to present the plurality of data streams to a user such that they are co-related to the route to be followed. Data streams corresponding to different route information are not combined in the data store, but comprise cross-referable data. The computer is programmed to present the first data stream and the further data stream in a co-related manner via the output devices and in dependence upon the cross-referable data.

Abstract: A method and system for scheduling home health care visits are provided. Client data for a set of clients, home health care professional data for a set of home health care professionals, and a resource schedule for the set of clients and the set of home health care professionals are stored in storage of a computer system. The resource schedule is determined to have become unsuitable. A change to the resource schedule in response to the determining is identified. The change to a transit-scheduling server to make a revision to a transit schedule is automatically communicated. Confirmation of the revision of the transit schedule is received.
