Patents Assigned to TRICAN COMPLETION SOLUTIONS AS
  • Patent number: 10767443
Abstract: The present invention relates to burst port subs (BPS) 120 allowing for a tubing 100 or a liner 200 or a casing 200 in a borehole 300 to be opened at a predetermined pressure and further providing a delayed opening sequence due to a dissolvable barrier 400, 500 arranged in a port 440, 540 of the sub 120. The present invention relates further to a downhole system comprising a predetermined number of such burst port subs (BPS) 120.

  • Patent number: 10190391
Abstract: A valve for inclusion or insertion in a tubular includes a substantially cylindrical outer valve housing; an inner sliding sleeve mounted axially movable inside the valve housing; and a seat arranged for receiving a drop ball, dart or falling device. The seat is built in such a way that it can partially or completely be removed or drilled out from the valve. The inner sliding sleeve includes a first profile arranged at a first end of the inner sliding sleeve and a second profile arranged at a second end of the inner sliding sleeve, wherein the first profile and the second profile are configured to be engaged with an activating or shifting tool inserted and run in the tubular after the seat has been partially or completely removed or drilled out from the valve in order to operate the valve from an open to a closed position and/or vice versa.

  • Publication number: 20170167226
Abstract: It has been found that in many instances it is desirable to be able to determine where fluid in a well originates. To that end a tracer assembly is provided where the tracer assembly becomes a portion of the tubular that is run into the wellbore. Preferably the tracer assembly provides an exterior barrier whether permanent or temporary to fluid flow outside of the tubular and also provides an interior barrier to fluid flow as it passes through the inner bore of the tubular. The interior barrier is adjustable so that upon command it provides access from the interior of the tubular to at least a portion of a cavity within the tracer assembly. The cavity is provided with a tracer or tracers so that as fluid is allowed within the interior cavity portion of the tracer is eroded, dissolved, or otherwise mixed with the fluid and the tracer that is now mixed with the fluid is transported to the surface.

  • Publication number: 20160362957
Abstract: In order to overcome the limitation of being able to utilize a limited number of sliding sleeves with progressively more restrictive internal diameters in a particular wellbore when selectively opening the sliding sleeve or tool with progressively smaller balls or darts, an indexing dart may be utilized. A wellbore dart or pill is provided such that each time the dart passes through a downhole tool having a seat and externally extending finger is forced radially inward into the dart. As the finger moves inward to its depressed position, the finger moves a ball or other placeholder from a first position to a second position. When the ball is moved to the second position it may be released into the interior of the wellbore or it may be released into a chamber in the tool. In any event the ball is moved to a second position such that it may not return to the first position when the finger returns from its depressed position to its extended position.

  • Publication number: 20160298417
Abstract: A re-closable toe sleeve is disclosed where the toe sleeve has a port allowing fluid access from the interior of the toe sleeve to the exterior of the toe sleeve. A burst disk is placed inside the port to prevent fluid access from the interior of the toe sleeve to the exterior of the toe sleeve. However upon the fluid in the interior of the toe sleeve reaching a predetermined level the burst disk is removed or otherwise modified to allow fluid access through the port. A sliding sleeve is placed within the toe sleeve so that the sliding sleeve can be moved to cover the port thereby preventing fluid access from the interior of the toe sleeve to the exterior of the toe sleeve or the sliding sleeve may be moved to uncover the port thereby allowing fluid access from the interior of the toe sleeve to the exterior the toe sleeve. The sliding sleeve is mechanically moved from the surface and is typically run into the well in the open position such that the port is uncovered by the sliding sleeve.

  • Patent number: 9464510
Abstract: A trigger mechanism for a ball activated device comprises a seat sleeve with seat defining members forming a fluid seal between the ball and the seat in an initial state and allowing the ball to pass through the seat in a final state. An alternating member can move radially in an aperture through an inner sleeve and abuts an outer surface on the seat sleeve in the initial state, is received in a recess on the seat sleeve in an intermediate state, and is received in a groove in the outer sleeve in the final state. A protective sleeve may extend axially from the seat sleeve over a seat receiving area. The mechanism is suitable for cementing and fracturing as particles cannot penetrate to its moving parts.

  • Patent number: 9464501
Abstract: Zone isolation is a leading concern for operators that wish to fluidly treat a well. Typically in an open hole packers hydraulically actuated solid body packers have been are deployed at particular intervals along the wellbore to provide zonal isolation of various formations or portions of a formation. By isolating the various zones valves may be selectively opened or closed to treat a particular zone independently of the remainder of the well. In an improvement over the past procedures a cup style packer that is particularly useful in open hole may now be used.
