Abstract: A stackable refuse container system includes multiple stackable containers, each of which may be designated for holding a particular recyclable material. The containers are vertically stacked and a cart can be provided for transporting the stacked assembly to and from a curb. Each container may include a removable lid, a front portion of the lid being hingably attached to provide access to the container and a second portion formed to engage and support a bottom of a complementary container. Each container also has sockets for receiving the feet of another container when a lid is not used. Thus, containers can be stacked one upon another, with the lids on or off, and mounted on the cart if one is used. The containers an be provided, for separating recyclable from non-recyclable materials at the point of origin without taking up substantial space.

Abstract: A plastic container and lid both of resilient material with the container having spaced thread segments below its upper edge and the lid having a central section from which extends an outer sealing section with a curved upwardly sloping inner wall and thread segments on the inside of a skirt wall extending downwardly from the sealing section. Threading of the lid onto the container in a downward direction brings the inner periphery of the container upper edge into an increased contact with the lid sealing section curved upwardly sloping inner wall and the latter also exerts an outward radial force on the container wall to enhance the sealing action and which also tightens the engagement between the lid skirt and container wall in the areas of their mating threads.

Abstract: A container and complementary sealing lid both of which are of plastic, in which the container has a sealing bond on its wall around its upper peripheral edge of two different radii, the larger one on the outside, and the lid has a U-shaped peripheral sealing channel with inner and outer side walls and an upper wall joining the side walls. The inner surface of the upper wall is formed with areas of two different radii with the larger on the inner surface of the channel outer side wall and the container sealing bead and lid sealing channel being sized so that sealing engagement occurs between the bead and channel smaller radii areas and there is a clearance between the other parts of the bead and channel to aid in fastening and removing the lid.
