Patents Assigned to Turner Electric Corporation
  • Patent number: 4894988
Abstract: A hydraulic control system for actuating a switch or related device including an actuator assembly having a housing with a member movable therein and connected to the switch for movement therewith between first and second positions responsive to the application of hydraulic pressure in the housing on opposite sides of the movable member.

  • Patent number: 4492835
Abstract: A load interrupter device has a plurality of load interrupter contacts enclosed respectively in axially aligned vacuum bottles, each bottle containing a fixed contact and a second contact movable axially away from the fixed contact to open position and toward the fixed contact to closed position, the bottles being positioned in a tubular housing of dielectric material by a series of stacking pedestals each formed with three equi-angularly spaced radial arms engaging the inner surface of the tubular housing. Each movable contact is normally resiliently biased toward closed position and is moved to open position by a toggle having a pair of arms substantially aligned with the contacts and held in this position by springs connected to arms on the operating shaft such that when the operating shaft is rotated by the operating arm, the above-mentioned springs break the toggle, causing the individual contacts to open.

  • Patent number: 4117678
Abstract: Self-contained simplified power apparatus for operating electric transmission line switches locally or remotely includes a rotary hydraulic actuator arranged for mechanical coupling to the line switch, a battery-powered reversible low voltage motor operating a reversible hydraulic pump, with the opposite ports of the pump connected respectively to the opposite ports of the hydraulic actuator for selectively producing closing and opening movements of the hydraulic actuator responsive directly to reversals in the direction of the motor and pump, means for selectively starting, stopping and reversing the motor either from a remote point or locally, and means for disengaging the operator from the line switch to permit manual operation of the latter. For line switches that require high speed closure, a modified embodiment of the invention provides electrically controlled hydraulic means to this end.

  • Patent number: 4078162
Abstract: The invention provides an improved positive latch for high voltage, air break disconnect switches of the type having an elongated blade with one end swiveling on a terminal to switch its opposite end from the remote terminal, the blade being rotatable about its longitudinal axis and relative to the terminals and provided at its switching end with a transversely projecting contact lug shiftable by rotation of the blade into and out of frictional engagement with the remote terminal. The latch is pivotally mounted on the remote terminal and has a hook-like portion spring biased downwardly into latching position with respect to the end portion of the blade and is rotatable out of latching position by engagement with the latch of an arm carried by the blade when the contact lug is rotated out of engagement with the remote terminal and is formed with an extension engageable with the blade mounted latch operating arm for opening the latch as the blade approaches closed position.
