Abstract: Methods for using water-soluble salts of fatty acids alone, or in chosen combinations with chelating agents, antifreeze compounds, and water for improving the processing of feed materials including whole grains or finely-divided ingredients, which may contain grain, that are mechanically processed, are described. The fatty acid salts may be added to water or to steam prior to application to feed materials, and may be applied directly to the feed materials, or added to grain conditioners known in the art to improve their performance. Treated feed materials have improved lubricity, and thin, strong durable flakes having less bulk density, and durable hard pellets, may be generated with reduced fines. Addition of an anti-freeze material permits the resulting compositions to remain fluid under freezing conditions, while oxidation or spoilage, may be reduced by adding a chelating agent. The solutions are basic and are non-corrosive.

Abstract: A hardened animal feed block is formed from dry ingredients including CaO and liquid ingredients including molasses in a continuous flow mixing system under exothermic conditions so as to be discharged at 80.degree. F. to 170.degree. F. and poured into a container for self-setting without compression forces. The calcium oxide need be present only in limited controlled amounts, and the ingredients and process do not require additional water. The finished block provides desired daily annual consumption of the block nutrients, medicaments, and vitamins.

Abstract: A method and composition for the elimination and control of ammonia odor from organic waste materials by contacting the waste material with a composition containing a deodorizing agent which produces a non-odorous ammonia salt, thereby eliminating gaseous ammonia from escaping into the air. The present invention also eliminates additional odors resulting from putrefaction due to ammonia fixing bacteria.
