Patent number: 7473157Abstract: A practice sword simulating a Katana. The practice sword provides an affordable, safe practice weapon that correctly simulates the size, weight and curve of the Japanese sword with both simulated cutting and thrusting capabilities. The practice sword includes generally a handle, a handle guard, and a simulated blade. The blade is comprised of a plurality of flexible limbs. The limbs are interconnected at a proximal end, proximate the handle and handle guard. The distal end of each limb is limited to axial movement with respect to each other limb. The blade includes a plurality of flexible limbs. The proximal end of each flexible limb is fixed relative to each other proximate the handle guard. The distal end of each flexible limb is limited to axial movement with respect to each other flexible limb.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2006Date of Patent: January 6, 2009Assignee: United Cutlery CorporationInventors: Julius Henry Reinhardt, Eddie Floyd

Patent number: 7062856Abstract: A folding knife, comprising a blade pivotally connected to an elongate handle defining a recessed blade cavity and a blade opening assembly constructed and arranged to assist movement of the blade to an open position, in which the blade is extended. The blade opening assembly comprises, in one example, a bias element and an actuating member. The bias element is housed within the recessed blade cavity and has a free end. The actuating member is pivotally connected to the handle within the recessed blade cavity and is constructed and arranged to engage a portion of the tang of the blade and a portion of the bias element such that the blade may be assisted to the open position. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract which will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure. It is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims. 37 C.F.R.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2003Date of Patent: June 20, 2006Assignee: United Cutlery CorporationInventor: Rocky Moser

Publication number: 20060112565Abstract: A knife assembly having a collapsible fixed blade. The collapsible fixed blade is configured such that when the knife is sheathed, the blade is retracted into the handle, and when the knife is unsheathed, the blade is extended from the handle. The knife assembly includes a knife and a sheath. The knife includes a handle and a blade. The knife further includes a locking mechanism for locking the blade in an extended orientation. The sheath is configured to receive the knife blade and engage the knife handle, and includes a lock release for disengaging the lock mechanism of the knife.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 30, 2004Publication date: June 1, 2006Applicant: United Cutlery CorporationInventor: Rocky Moser

Patent number: 7051441Abstract: A leaf spring assisted opener for a folding tool such as a folding knife. The folding tool includes tool pivotally carried by a handle. The tool defines a tang at the proximal end. A leaf spring is carried within the handle for assisting in the opening of the tool. The leaf spring defines an elongated, arcuate configuration having a distal end adapted to engage the tang of the tool. When in the closed orientation, the leaf spring is biased toward the tang of the tool, thus holding it in the closed position. The tang of the tool defines a shoulder strategically positioned such that as the tool is pivoted from the closed position, the leaf spring eventually engages the shoulder and begins to release the tension in the leaf spring. At this point, the tension in the spring serves to open the tool the remainder of the rotation.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2004Date of Patent: May 30, 2006Assignee: United Cutlery CorporationInventor: Fred J. Carter, III
