  • Patent number: 9605459
Abstract: A door system suitable for installation in data centers to limit airflow to and from aisles between rows of equipment cabinets has a door assembly with a door panel and a plurality of vertically spaced hinge assemblies having powerful permanent magnets manually movable between connected and disconnected positions, enabling the door assembly to be aligned and positioned on the side wall panel of an equipment cabinet and then removably mounted in place by engagement of the magnets. Each magnet can be mounted in a rotatable threaded magnet carriers received in a threaded recesses in the hinge assembly and rotation of the magnet carrier is operable to move the magnet into the connected and disconnected positions. The hinge assemblies also include registration tabs that engage slots in the cabinet for proper alignment and orientation of the door system.

  • Patent number: 9016696
Abstract: An air seal for a server rack installed in a data center which delivers cool air to the fronts of racks and removes warm air at the back, where one or more of the racks are elevated by wheels or legs. A seal support member of rigid plastic and of right angle cross section has a horizontal portion and a vertical portion. The horizontal portion is adhesively secured to a downwardly facing surface at the bottom front and/or back of the rack. The horizontal portion is recessed at opposite ends to accommodate wheels or legs at opposite sides of the rack. The vertical portion extends across the full width of the rack and projects downward. A sealing strip of EPDM foam is adhesively secured to the vertical portion and is held flexed against the floor, forming a seal against the flow of by-pass air underneath the rack.

  • Patent number: 8708164
Abstract: An air sealing device for installation in server racks to minimize the internal mixing of cooling air with warm air without passing through a server. The device has an elongated support strip of ABS or similar plastic material, to one portion of one side of which is secured a double side foam mounting strip, with an outside adhesive surface covered by a removable strip. A Neoprene foam, resiliently flexible sealing strip is adhesively secured by one edge margin thereof to the available surface portion of the support strip, on the same side as the mounting strip. The sealing strip can be mounted on a rack element to extend across an air space and into contact with a cover panel to prevent bypass air flow along sides of the rack. The device can also be mounted on a frame element to extend over surface areas thereof to close openings therein.

  • Patent number: 8507798
Abstract: A sealing grommet, particularly for data centers and the like, formed of one or a pair of U-shaped frame sections, each co-molded with a thermoplastic elastomeric seal of corrugated wave form, with corrugated edges of the seals exposed at the open sides of the U-shaped frames. A pair of such grommet sections joined together, with the corrugated edges arranged to be in contact and in phase, provides a uniquely efficient seal to hold back air under pressure while allowing various pass-through elements, such as cables, hoses, etc., to be extended through the grommet and while enabling the pass-through elements to be easily added, removed, or rearranged as may be necessary to accommodate the dynamic changes experienced in the operation of a data center.

  • Patent number: 8256627
Abstract: A snap-mount blanking panel for an equipment rack or cabinet enclosure has ergonomic grips spaced laterally inwardly and offset forwardly to permit comfortable and reliable mounting and removal of the blanking panel regardless of lateral clearance. A special stacking structure engages the grips in a manner to position a blanking panel, when stacked upon a lower blanking panel, in a fixed and stabilized relation to the lower blanking panel. The stacking features enable stable stacking of multiple units, one on top of another, without requiring external confinement of the stack.

  • Patent number: 8049109
Abstract: A cable grommet system for installation in data centers, offices and the like, for sealing cable openings in raised flooring, wall or ceiling panels, server cabinets, etc. to facilitate the installation and revision of wiring and cabling to server installations while minimizing losses of any provided conditioned air. A wide variety of grommet configurations is possible with a limited number of component parts. An advantageous acute angle mounting of sealing brushes enhances the sealing effectiveness thereof, particularly for smaller sizes of cable openings. In some embodiments, a novel arrangement of electrical conductors is incorporated into the grommet structures for dissipation of electrostatic charges, enabling the basic frame components to be formed of a flame retardant material.

  • Patent number: 7959015
Abstract: A snap-mount blanking panel for an equipment rack or cabinet enclosure has ergonomic grips spaced laterally inward to permit comfortable and reliable mounting and removal of the blanking panel regardless of lateral clearance. Resiliently flexible sealing skirt members create a positive seal with adjacent electronic devices or blanking panels. Stacking structure enables stable stacking of multiple units outside a container. An off-set platform allows for mounting ambient atmospheric indicators or signage, or may be used as a writing surface. A cable pass-through is also provided.

  • Patent number: RE41863
Abstract: A floor grommet for use in building and office structures supplied with air conditioning via under floor plenum. Directed flow of conditioned air is optimized by limiting the escape of air from the plenum into the space above the floor by leakage through floor openings provided for power cables, data cables and the like. Specialized floor grommets installed in the cable openings are comprised of a surrounding frame mounting sealing elements comprised of thin, flexible elements which are anchored at one end in the grommet frame and extend toward the center of the opening, from each side, to effectively close the opening against significant flow of conditioned air from the plenum below. Cables passing through the grommet opening cause minimal deflection of the flexible elements to limit the escape of conditioned air. Preferably, the resilient, flexible elements are filamentary in nature.
