  • Patent number: 7291401
Abstract: A steel material that has on its surface a non-hexavalent-chromium type corrosion-resistant coating film formed by a composite of a metal layer and a resin layer. The steel material having or not having a copper layer is formed with 1) a Zn and/or Zn-based alloy layer, 2) a Zn/Ni alloy layer which is on this Zn and/or Zn-based alloy layer, 3) a de-Zn layer which is on the Zn/Ni alloy layer and is obtained by chemically treating the surface of the Zn/Ni alloy layer, and 4) at least one resin covering layer which is on this de-Zn layer, which are successively formed to make a corrosion-resistant coating film, the corrosion-resistant coating film, which is superior in adhesion between the metal layer and resin layer, being obtained by way of taking into account the use of a trivalent chromium type chromate layer instead of a hexavalent chromium type chromate layer (which is a substance that places a burden on the environment).

  • Patent number: 5927949
Abstract: A plastic fan is composed of a plastic-made fan portion and a metal-made insert portion integrally embedded in the plastic-made fan portion. The fan portion is formed of fan blades and a fan boss. The insert portion is formed of a ring-shaped flat base portion and a bent portion extending upright from an outer peripheral edge of the base portion and having a substantially ring-shaped configuration in plan and a flattened U-shaped configuration in cross-section. The insert portion defines lock holes arranged at predetermined intervals in an outer peripheral portion of the metal-made insert portion and extending through the metal-made insert portion from an outer side thereof to an inner side thereof. The inner peripheral edge portion of each of the lock holes is formed of a smooth flat surface on at least one of the outer side and the inner side of the metal-made insert portion.

  • Patent number: 5667875
Abstract: An exhaust gas cleaning metallic honeycomb body for supporting thereon an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst is described. The body is of a honeycomb structure formed by alternately superposing two types of corrugated bands made of metal sheets one over the other in a contiguous relation and defining a number of network-patterned gas flow passages along a central axis thereof. The two types of corrugated bands comprise:(i) a first corrugated band having a triangular waveform of the structure that substantially-equilateral triangles are continuously connected in a lengthwise direction; and(ii) a second corrugated band having a substantially a sinusoidal waveform.

  • Patent number: 5620666
Abstract: Described is an exhaust gas cleaning metallic substrate of the structure that three metallic honeycomb bodies are successively arranged within a metallic casing. Among the three metallic honeycomb bodies, (i) the metallic honeycomb bodies at front and rear positions have each been constructed by fixing a planar and corrugated bands as constituent members of said metallic honeycomb body at at least some of points of contact therebetween and also an outer peripheral wall of the metallic honeycomb body and an inner peripheral wall of the metallic casing at at least some of points of contact therebetween, and (ii) the metallic honeycomb body at a middle position has been constructed without fixing a planar and corrugated bands as constituent members of said metallic honeycomb body at points of contact therebetween and also an outer peripheral wall of the metallic honeycomb body and an inner peripheral wall of the metallic casing at points of contact therebetween.

  • Patent number: 5401382
Abstract: A method is provided for forming a tough, electrical insulating layer on a surface of a copper material. The copper material is made of copper of a copper-based alloy at least in the surface thereof. According to the method, the copper material is anodized first in an alkaline electrolyte bath of a caustic alkali to form a thin film layer of cupric oxide on the surface of the copper material, and next in an acidic electrolytic bath of a hexacyanoiron complex.

  • Patent number: 5372893
Abstract: An X-wrapped metallic honeycomb body is provided for carrying thereon an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst. The honeycomb body has been constructed using at least two stacks each of which comprises planar band(s) and corrugated band(s) made from metal sheets and alternately stacked into a desired number of layers. Each of the stacks has a notched fitting portion so that the stacks are mutually fitted together at the notched fitting portions thereof. The stacks have been rolled in the same direction about the notched fitting portions thereof as a central axis of the rolling formation.
