Abstract: A method for preparing iron bearing green pellets that can be processed in a rotary hearth furnace without degradation and become self-fluxing sponge iron pellets when charged to a submerged arc furnace operating at a lower temperature than the rotary hearth furnace, to produce hot metal having a carbon content from 1% to about 5%.
Abstract: A rotary drive apparatus is provided for connection to a rotary drive string extending downwardly in a well to a rotary downhole pump. Separate axial load bearing and rotary drive spindles are provided and are separately connected to the rotary drive string by readily releasable connectors so as to permit axial adjustment of the rotary drive string while preventing loss of the string into the well in the event of release or slippage of one of the connectors. The design also permits repair or adjustment of the drive apparatus without removal of the rotary drive string from the well.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for easing stripping of an ingot from a sectional mold without disassembly of the fastened sections, by partially separating the sections during stripping. An improved mold is provided for accomplishing such partial separation of the sections, preferably by translating part of stripping forces applied longitudinally to the mold into a transverse direction, creating a gap between the longitudinal sections. Various means are shown for coaction with movable stripping lugs to apply a separating force to opposed adjacent mold sections.
