Patent number: 8049129Abstract: A housing for a vacuum interrupter module that resists fracture when fasteners received therethrough are tightened, comprises an elongated hollow body from which a mounting flange extends from at least one end. Extending between the mounting flange and the body and/or coextensive with the mounting flange is a curved transition that maintains at least one curved recess, which partially surrounds corresponding mounting bores that are configured to receive suitable fasteners to mount the housing. Once mounted, the curved transition prevents stress forces imparted by the fasteners from deflecting the mounting flange, thereby inhibiting the formation of fractures therein.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2008Date of Patent: November 1, 2011Assignee: Vacuum Electric Switch Co.Inventors: Cecil C. Patent number: 7550691Abstract: An adjustable switching mechanism for adjusting the tolerance of electrical contacts of series coupled vacuum interrupters includes a primary drawbar coupled to a secondary drawbar via a pair of coupling pull rods. The primary and secondary drawbars are adjustably attached to the coupling pull rods by a plurality of adjustable compression assemblies. The primary drawbar also includes an attachment bore having threads of one dimension to threadably receive a double-threaded part therethrough. The double-threaded part also includes an internal bore having threads of another dimension in which to receive a coupling screw. As such, the tolerance between the electrical contacts of the vacuum interrupters may be changed through adjustment of the compression assemblies and the rotation of the double-threaded part.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2007Date of Patent: June 23, 2009Assignee: Vacuum Electric Switch Co.Inventors: Cecil C. Wristen, James G. Meadows, Michael G. Walaszewski, William D. Mozina

Patent number: 7492062Abstract: A modular switchgear control to control the operation of one or more vacuum interrupter switches includes a cabinet that may contain one or more line powered or low energy control panels. Each low energy and line powered control panel allows multiple interrupter switches to be coupled in parallel so as to increase its current rating. Coupled to each line or low energy control panel is an input power panel, that receives single-phase power from a suitable power source. A controller panel and a timing panel may also be carried in the cabinet so as to coordinate the opening and closing of the interrupter switches in either an asynchronous or synchronous manner. A noise detection panel may also be provided to determine when the interrupter switches are beginning to fail.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 2006Date of Patent: February 17, 2009Assignee: Vacuum Electric Switch Co.Inventors: Cecil C. Wristen, Jeffrey R. Rupp, Michael G. Walaszewski

Patent number: 6310310Abstract: A high voltage electric switch includes an insulated housing with an opening therethrough and an interior surface. The housing has an upper open end and a lower open end. A conductive upper terminal pad has a downwardly extending bar, wherein the upper terminal pad encloses the upper open end. A vacuum interrupter has a stationary stem that is electrically connected to the bar, and a moving stem extending in a direction opposite the stationary stem. A dielectric material is permanently bonded to at least a portion of the vacuum interrupter and substantially fills any voids between the vacuum interrupter and the interior surface. The dielectric material and the vacuum interrupter are selectively removable from the housing when the upper terminal pad is removed. A moving end assembly is connected to the moving stem and includes a highly conductive outer sleeve which receives a high strength inner sleeve having a cross-hole therethrough.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 2000Date of Patent: October 30, 2001Assignee: Vacuum Electric Switch Co.Inventor: Cecil C.
