    Abstract: A torque limiting device that includes a shaft and a wrap extending around the shaft. The wrap is frictionally engaged with the shaft, and the wrap has an inner and an outer surface. The device further includes a restraining mechanism enclosing the wrap such that there is contact between the restraining mechanism and the outer surface of the wrap, and such that the restraining mechanism prevents the wrap from rotating relative to the retraining mechanism as the shaft is rotated in either one of two opposing rotational directions.
