    Abstract: A load indicator apparatus which is compact, portable and detachably mounted on the tie-rod. The load indicator apparatus includes a first reference fixture configured for attachment at a first position on the tie-rod, a second fixture configured for attachment at a second position on the tie-rod and an elongation gauge extending between the first reference fixture and the second fixture and configured to measure displacement of the second fixture relative to the first reference fixture during elongation of the tie-rod. A displacement transducer is connected to the second fixture to measure a capacitance value proportional to the loading acting on the tie-rod and transfers it to a load monitoring unit which translates the measured capacitance into a visual load reading and an electronic load output value.

    Abstract: A coverlet includes a first back layer having edges, a second middle layer having edges and a batting layer having edges and being disposed between and quilted to the first and second layers, A third face layer has edges, covers the second layer and is stitched to the first and second layers and to the batting layer. A binding, preferably between ½ and 1 inch in width, covers all of the edges. The first, second and third layers are all formed of the same fabric, especially a lyocell blend. The batting layer is preferably a lyocell blend and in particular a blend with polyester. A method of producing the coverlet is also provided.

    Abstract: Briefly stated, the present invention comprises a resuscitation mask for administering artificial respiration to a patient. The respiration mask has a container for defining an interior region between the container and the face of the patient. Two conduits are provided through the container wall in order to define two air flow passageways which are in fluid communication with the internal region. A valve is disposed in one air flow passageway for permitting air flow into the internal region and preventing air flow from the internal region. A vent is provided to reduce pressure within the internal region in response to an increase in pressure within the internal region. The container is generally cup-shaped and, in the preferred embodiment, it is formed with a cylindrical member coupled to the one-way air flow conduit. The other airflow passageway is adapted to be detachably coupled to an oxygen source.

    Abstract: Cementitious compositions useful as lightweight aggregates are formed from a blend of spent bed material from fluidized bed combustion and fly ash. The proportions of the blend are chosen so that ensuing reactions eliminate undesirable constituents. The blend is then mixed with water and formed into a shaped article. The shaped article is preferably either a pellet or a "brick" shape that is later crushed. The shaped articles are cured at ambient temperature while saturated with water. It has been found that if used sufficiently, the resulting aggregate will exhibit minimal dimensional change over time. The aggregate can be certified by also forming standardized test shapes, e.g., cylinders while forming the shaped articles and measuring the properties of the test shapes using standardized techniques including X-ray diffraction.

Each of the envelopes has a predetermined rate of change from a preselected initial amplitude. The impressed bursts of the high frequency signal are applied to the electrode. The electrical apparatus operates in a cut mode or a coagulation mode. The apparatus includes a power supply for providing a variable DC voltage, a short circuit detect circuit for detecting a short circuit at the bipolar electrode, and an open circuit detector for detecting an open circuit at the bipolar electrode.
