Patent number: 4530145Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing a pipe connection are disclosed. The apparatus includes an inner pipe formed on the pipe to be joined which has a widened end part. An outer pipe in the pipe connector is dimensioned to receive the inner pipe and has an undercut formed therein to receive the widened end part. A sleeve is mounted inside the inner pipe with a close tolerance so as to be substantially free from play. The sleeve has a widened wedge-shaped portion which engages the inner pipe internally. As a result, the inner pipe is retained between the undercuts and the wedge-shaped portion of the sleeve.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 1983Date of Patent: July 23, 1985Assignee: Vaw Leichtmetall GmbHInventors: Hans Bergheim, Winfried Griep

Patent number: 4299139Abstract: A foot pedal of one piece construction is formed from a generally elongated member. An aperture is defined by a collar at one end of the elongated member. The inner surface of the collar acts as a bearing surface. At the opposite end of the elongated member, a generally planar surface defines a plate which can be foot actuated. A twisted portion of the elongated member connects the apertured end of the member with the plate. In one embodiment, a connector protrudes from the elongated member in the vicinity of the twisted portion. In another embodiment, the elongated member is made of aluminum and the connector is made of steel alloy.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 1979Date of Patent: November 10, 1981Assignee: Vaw Leichtmetall GmbHInventors: Gerhard Kruger, Winfried Griep

Patent number: 4134559Abstract: An apparatus is provided for continuously processing metal ribbon from ribbon spools of fixed capacity to form spools of processed ribbon. At a dispensing or wind-out reel a continuous metal ribbon is formed by alternately emptying spools from two different positions, joining the ribbon from alternately emptied spools, and replacing each empty spool with a full one while the other spool is being emptied. The continuous metal ribbon is provided to a processing station and, from there, is delivered to a collecting or wind-up reel where a pair of spools are alternately filled with processed ribbon and a full spool is replaced with an empty one while the other spool is being filled. A festoon tower provides a pair of elongated paths of independently variable travel length for ribbon moving, respectively, between the dispensing reel and processing station and between the processing station and collecting reel. This tower provides a continuous movement of ribbon to and from the processing station.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 1977Date of Patent: January 16, 1979Assignee: VAW-Leichtmetall GmbHInventors: Frank-Ulrich Dyllus, Hans Kaulen, Manfred Schmidt

Patent number: 3993201Abstract: A production line wherein extremely heavy and bulky commodities, such as metallic bands which are convoluted on reels and weigh up to and in excess of 20,000 lbs., are treated at several stations is provided with a first magazine at the receiving end, a second magazine at the discharge end and an intermediate magazine between two neighboring departments. The commodities are transported in the magazines by vehicles which are movable lengthwise as well as up and down to store the commodities at different levels or to withdraw commodities from selected compartments of the respective magazines. Additional vehicles in the form of cars, lifters, cranes or the like are provided to transport commodities from a preceding magazine, to stations which are adjacent to various machines of the production line, and from such machines to the next magazine, always at a level above or below the level of the production line.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 1973Date of Patent: November 23, 1976Assignees: Eisenbau Wyhlen AG, Vaw Leichtmetall GmbHInventors: Heinrich Bauer, Karl-Heinz Dorner, Helmut Eberlin, Hans Kaulen, Werner Pazurek, Heinz Richarz, Harro J.
