  • Patent number: 8953929
Abstract: A video recording camera system provide remote control functionality through a wireless handset interface. In embodiments, a video recording camera includes an optical sensor, a processor coupled to the optical sensor to process an input image signal received from the optical sensor into an encoded video data stream, a non-volatile storage medium coupled to the processor to store, locally in the video recording camera, encoded video data stream as recorded video data, and a wireless transceiver. In embodiments, a cellular-enabled wireless communication handset communicatively couples to the video recording camera over a wireless personal area network (WPAN) supported by the camera's wireless transceiver. The handset serves as a gateway to the camera providing access to recorded video data or functions of the camera, via the WPAN, as determined based on communications conducted by the handset over a cellular communication link.

  • Patent number: 8941747
Abstract: Video recording where an input image signal is received with one or more optical sensor disposed in a hands-free video recorder. The input image signal is processed into an encoded video data stream with one or more processor disposed in the hands-free video recorder. First frames of the video data stream are relayed over a wireless communication link to a cellular-enabled wireless telephony handset and presented on a display screen of the handset along with a graphical user video control interface. Video control commands are wirelessly sent to the recorder in response to receiving a first input through the video control interface. Second frames of the video data stream are directed by the video control commands to at least one of a plurality of destinations.

  • Publication number: 20140180976
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards systems and methods for predicting one or more desired properties of external nodes or properties of their relations with internal nodes, based on a selected group of nodes about which it is known whether the nodes have the desired properties, or it is known whether they have a desired relation property with an internal node. The method comprises storing in one or more data structures a first data set regarding external nodes and a second data set regarding nodes with known properties in a selected group, each data set having one or more data items representing one or more events relating to or attributes of each node in the data set, the second data set including one or more types of data items not included in the first data set.

  • Patent number: 8617487
Abstract: Saliva sample collection systems are configured with special attention to ease-of-use for the unskilled user and safe transport and delivery by a conventional delivery services such as Federal Express. A sealed cavity is formed by tight coupling of two primary elements: a receiving vessel element and a sealing cap element. The receiving vessel has integrated therewith: a standing means, a fill-line window, a funnel system, a knife, a threadset, and containment tube among others. A complementary cap element includes a cooperating threadset, label receiving surface, gripping surface, seal means and reservoir with piercable thin-film membrane. These two primary elements may be accommodated in an application-specific shipping container which support two shipping modes whereby the system may be shipped safely to and from a donor user each way in a different shipping mode.

  • Patent number: 7829025
Abstract: A microfluidic processing device includes a substrate defining a microfluidic network. The substrate is in thermal communication with a plurality of N independently controllable components and a plurality of input output contacts for connecting the substrate to an external controller. Each component has at least two terminals. Each terminal is in electrical communication with at least one contact. The number of contacts required to independently control the N components is substantially less than the total number of terminals. Upon actuation, the components typically heat a portion of the microfluidic network and/or sense a temperature thereof.

  • Publication number: 20100135473
Abstract: A system, method and corresponding software application installed on communication devices of the system for communicating a media-based call alert command from a calling-party device to a called-party device prior to establishing the voice call therebetween. The media-based call alert command preferably conveys media content that is played on the called-party device prior to (or concurrent with) the establishment of the voice call to alert the called-party of the call. Alternatively, the media-based call alert command need not convey the media content itself, but instead convey media identification information that identifies media content that is locally or remotely accessible by the called-party device for playback prior to (or concurrent with) the establishment of the voice call to alert the called-party of the call. Preferably, the communication of the media-based call alert command is realized as part of a service that is available to subscribers of the service.

  • Patent number: 7443185
Abstract: The mechanical behavior of wires subjected to axial loading and experiencing bending deformation is used to ensure effective control of the contact pressure in mechanical and/or heat removing devices, and similar structures and systems. An apparatus for taking advantage of the characteristics of wires in packaging of a device, such as a semiconductor device, is disclosed. Methods for the prediction of such a behavior for pre-buckling, buckling, and post-buckling conditions in wires, carbon nanotubes (CNTs), and similar wire-grid-array (WGA) structures, for example are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6063402
Abstract: Disclosed is a substantially anhydrous, powdered, galactomannan composition consisting essentially of a galactomannan hydrocolloid exhibiting about 50% to about 90% by weight of anhydromannose residues and about 10% to about 50% by weight anhydrogalactose residues; less than about 1% by weight of protein material and less than about 3% of other nonaqueous impurities. This material is useful for preparing pharmaceutical compositions both in the substantially anhydrous form but preferably in an anhydrated form which includes about 5-15% by weight water. The pharmaceutical compositions comprise a therapeutically effective amount of a drug, the hydrated powered gallactomannan composition and optionally other pharmaceutically-acceptable excipients. When the hydrated powdered purified glactomannan of the invention is used to form a tablet, one sees improved hardness in the tablet formed.
