A customer uses the information to access a web site capable of registering the customer and connecting the customer to other persons sharing a common interest. The service assigns aliases to respective participants so that the true identity of each person is not made available to others in the group.

Abstract: The invention relates to systems and methods for selectively auto-tabbing between input fields of an interface based on received input. More specifically, the intelligent auto-tabbing systems and methods accommodate different user preferences related to providing input by selectively auto-tabbing between fields based on user preferences. One example of a method according to one embodiment involves receiving an input character and entering the input character into a first field. The entry of that input character into the first field causes a number of characters in the first field to reach a predetermined threshold. A subsequent input character is received subsequent to that input character being entered into the first field. An input focus is positioned in a second field based on the subsequent input character.

Abstract: A method and system of accessing an information system using a portable access device is provided. The method includes identifying a communication profile associated with a first network server, attempting, by the portable access device, to establish a communication link between the portable access device and the first network server using communication channel that is selected by the portable access device based on the communication profile, a location of the portable access device with respect to the first network server, a desired quality of the communication link, and a cost of the communication link, attempting to establish the communication link includes using at least a portion of the description information, and capturing data received by the portable access device in a memory located in the portable access device in accordance with a failed attempt to establish the communication link.

Abstract: A method for generating business targets includes accessing data (300) corresponding to a number of customers. The data includes variables (310-330) associated with each of the customers and an observed value for each of the customers. The observed value for a customer may represent revenue associated with that particular customer. The method also includes identifying a neighborhood that includes a first customer and a number of the other customers. The method further includes calculating a target for each of the customers in the neighborhood, where the target may represent the potential revenue from each of the customers.

Abstract: A system and method can verifiably record a voice communication between participants of the voice communication by connecting a first participant to a verifying service provider, connecting between the verifying service and at least one additional participant, recording the voice communication between the first participant and the at least one additional participant to provide a recorded voice communication and secure time-stamping the recorded voice communication to provide a verifiable recorded voice communication. Switch data, such as telephone numbers for the participants and date and time information for the voice communication, can be appended to the recorded voice communication. The participants may input identification data, such as digital signatures, that can be associated with the recorded voice communication and the recorded voice communication can be digitally signed using the digital signatures input by the participants.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus are provided for emulating the performance effect on network traffic flow traversing a node in a communications network. According to one illustrative embodiment, a method of emulating traffic through a node is provided. The method includes generating foreground traffic through the node; simulating a first background traffic having a first weight at the node; simulating a second background traffic having a second weight at the node; determining an effect of the first and second background traffic on the foreground traffic; and making a forwarding decision with respect to the foreground traffic based on the effect.

Abstract: Schemes for processing a voice command from a caller are disclosed herein. The schemes may allow a caller to manipulate data using a voice command and designate a device to which to provide the manipulated data. The schemes may be accessed over telecommunication networks. According to one exemplary embodiment, a method of processing a voice command from a caller may include receiving from the caller a voice command to manipulate a set of data. The voice command may be processed using a voice-recognition application. The set of data may be manipulated to obtain a different modified set of data, and the modified set of data may be provided to a device designated by the caller.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for managing the scheduling of calls and automating the process of making and delivering such calls. Any endpoint (e.g., telephony-enabled) device can be used with a PSTN, cellular, and VoIP network. Different types of devices and interfaces may be used for provisioning users, conferring calling events, scheduling events, and/or delivering calls. Among other things, this increases user mobility. Also, automated retrying and rescheduling of calls, which may use updated data, reduces the likelihood of missed calls.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for detecting a wireless access device on a network. Abstract: A selective packet discard mechanism is disclosed for selectively discarding packets at buffers in packet switches in the event of traffic congestion. The mechanism makes use of ordering information contained in data packets, such as forward sequence numbers or timestamps, to estimate the packet loss that traffic flows may have already incurred at upstream packet-switching nodes. This estimated upstream packet loss information is used to make improved packet discard decisions. The mechanism may be applied independently to a plurality of buffers at a plurality of packet switches to form a distributed data traffic management system.
