Publication number: 20160231319Abstract: The invention relates to a method for enhancing the transplantation of hematopoietic cells to supplement or fully reconstitute the hematopoietic system, such as in myeloablated patients or patients otherwise deficient in hematopoietic cells. The method involves administering CD34+ cells having enhanced expression of one or more of AML-1, MYSM1, Hif1a, Profilin-1, phospho-GSK-3beta, SKP2, cbx7, Bmi-1, TCF1, Musashi-2, or FLI1 at levels that provide desirable therapeutically effective amounts of self-renewal of the administered cells and desirable therapeutically effective amounts of differentiation of the administered cells into the various progeny cells of the hematopoietic system (i.e., therapeutically effective amounts of hematopoietic reconstitution). To provide such cells to a subject, the invention relates to detecting such cells prior to or during treatment to ascertain whether such cells are present in clinically-relevant amounts.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 30, 2015Publication date: August 11, 2016Applicant: Verve, Ltd.Inventor: David R. KAPLAN

Patent number: 6335173Abstract: The present invention relates to methods of tyramide coating live cells for flow cytometry, using catalyzed reporter deposition and serial amplification staining. A catalyzed reporter deposition or an analyte dependent enzyme activation system is described for detecting and/or quantitating an analyte of interest on the surface of a cell by flow cytometry. Also described is a method for serial amplification staining by tyramide coating cells which possess an analyte of interest or a solid phase to which an analyte is bound.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 1999Date of Patent: January 1, 2002Assignee: Verve, Ltd. c/o James BellInventor: David R. Patent number: 6161246Abstract: A combination bathing implement for use in cleansing and exfoliating skin and as a bath toy, or holder of soap or like products. The bathing implement includes a sponge component and a removable component. The sponge component can be, for instance, a ball-shaped mesh sponge, and the toy component can be, for instance, a water-friendly stuffed toy, a shaped solid soap product, or a container of a fluent soap, shampoo or lotion product. A loop component extends from the sponge component so that the other component is attachable to and removable from the sponge component. The loop component is appropriately sized so that it can be used as a handle to manipulate the sponge component during bathing. Alternatively, the implement can be utilized as a surface and article cleaning implement and be sold in combination with a container of cleaning product. The implement is also capable of being worn in a person's hair or as a bracelet around a person's wrist.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1999Date of Patent: December 19, 2000Assignee: Verve, Ltd.Inventor: Steven Trachtenberg

Patent number: 5983435Abstract: A bathing implement for use in cleansing and exfoliating skin which can also be utilized as a bath toy by a child or an adult. The bathing implement includes a washcloth component and a collar component which attaches about a portion of the washcloth so that at least one end portion of the washcloth flares outwardly from the collar. Preferably, the washcloth is a flexible mesh sponge and the collar is sleeve-shaped and made of foam or any number of other materials.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 1998Date of Patent: November 16, 1999Assignee: Verve Ltd, LLCInventor: James J.
