  • Patent number: 7540619
Abstract: An external rearview mirror assembly is fixedly secured to a motor vehicle. The external rearview mirror assembly includes a mounting bracket which is fixedly secured to the motor vehicle. An arm is pivotally secured to the mounting bracket. The arm defines an elongated channel having an upper arm surface, a lower arm surface, and an intermediate arm surface disposed between the upper and lower arm surfaces. A case frame extends between a bracket and a distal end. The case frame defines an elongated channel for receiving the elongated channel therein. A mirror is movably secured to the distal end of the case frame to provide a view rearward of the motor vehicle.

  • Patent number: 7541706
Abstract: A electric motor and motor housing assembly includes an electric motor body having spaced apart sockets for receiving and frictionally engaging spaced apart electrical power supply terminals. A housing supports the motor. The housing defines an aperture over the sockets. The assembly also includes a connector body. A pair of spaced apart electrical terminals extends outwards from the connector body and is receivable by the sockets. A motor body gripping portion extends from the connector body. The gripping portion mechanically latches to the motor body thereby substantially preventing relative movement between the terminals and the sockets. A pliable member is mounted between the connector body and the housing. The pliable member allows relative movement between the connector body and the housing while the motor moves relative to the housing under varying loads.

  • Patent number: 7498554
Abstract: The invention relates to interior rear view mirrors, in the mirror housing (1) of which sensors are disposed that sit on an electronic board (13). Said rear view mirrors require substantial assembly space such that the assembly position of the sensor is limited. In order not to restrict the assembly position of the sensor, said sensor sits on a sensor board (12) that is separate from the electronic board (13). The two boards (12, 13) are interconnected by means of signals. The sensor board (12) can be embodied in a very compact manner such that the sensor located thereupon can be mounted in any appropriate position within the mirror housing (1). The interior rear view mirror is used for motor vehicles.

  • Patent number: 7490945
Abstract: A folding assembly for a vehicle side mirror that employs specialized ramped détentes. The folding assembly includes a pivot tube and a pivot spring rotatably coupled to a case frame and rigidly coupled to a base frame. The base frame includes a series of ramped détentes that are seated within corresponding recesses in the case frame. The inside angle (?1) of the ramps of the détentes is steeper than the outside angle (?2) of the ramps of the détentes according to a predetermined formula so that when the case frame is rotated relative to the base frame, and the détentes move out of their recesses, the force of the rotation is distributed along the entire length of the ramp to increase the durability performance of the mirror and thus its longevity.

  • Publication number: 20090021034
Abstract: A device to adjust the orientation of a mirror of a motorcar includes a body to accommodate a first and a second electric motor and a first and a second gear driven by first and second motor respectively. Gear rods are formed as circular arc sections and the body accommodates means to resiliently press the first and second gear rod against the first and second gears, respectively, eliminating relative movement between the gearing of the gear rods and the gears in operation conditions. Each of the gears include a safety clutch, allowing the gears to slip in overload conditions.

  • Publication number: 20080291560
Abstract: The rear-view mirror comprises a mirror housing, in which a mirror glass is disposed. It is surrounded by a rim portion, wherein at least a part of the rim portion is configured moveable relative to the mirror housing. Said part can be configured elastically resilient, linked with the mirror housing, or it can be provided detachable. When the mirror housing touches its installed elements during an evasive movement, the corresponding part of the rim portion can move, whereby an additional travel distance for the mirror housing is provided.

  • Patent number: 7455414
Abstract: A retractable mirror assembly for a vehicle which retracts towards and extends away from a vehicle body wherein the mirror compensates for the change in position so that the same perspective is maintained. The mirror assembly comprises the vehicle body in which a mirror housing that surrounds a mirror backing plate having a mirror glass is retracted and expanded to and from the vehicle body. A second support bracket and a stationary bracket are connected and move in relation to one another in order to rotate the mirror backing plate and mirror so that the mirror maintains the same perspective while the mirror assembly is being retracted and expanded to and from the vehicle body.

  • Publication number: 20080204912
Abstract: The invention relates to an adjustable mirror, in particular to an outside mirror of a motor vehicle, with a hinge, which links a mirror support to a mirror base so that the mirror can be twisted about an axis of rotation. An elastomeric element is arranged between the mirror base and the mirror support and is form-fitted or bonded to the mirror support and/or to the mirror base and holds the mirror support in a first position. Compression elements are arranged on the mirror support and/or on the mirror base and compress the elastomeric element when the mirror support is moved from a first position into a second position.

  • Patent number: 7360908
Abstract: An exterior rear view mirror for a vehicle has a housing pivotally mounted on a base for angular movement about a first pivot axis and an electric motor for causing such movement. A controller operates the motor at either of two different speeds. The controller includes a counter for counting the number of revolutions of the output shaft of the motor so as to determining the angle through which the housing has been moved, thus enabling the housing to be restored to its original position by causing the motor to perform the same number of revolutions in the opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 7336044
Abstract: A DC motor control circuit includes a pair of substantially identical unipolar control circuits. Each of the unipolar control circuits are connected between a respective current source and a current input to the motor. Each of the unipolar control circuits includes a solid state switch located between a motor current input and the source of direct current. The degree to which the solid state switch allows current to flow to the motor is controlled by an input bias signal to the switch. Current limiting for adjusting the input bias signal according to the current flowing through the motor is provided in one way of controlling the motor movement.
