  • Patent number: 7227474
Abstract: The object detection system includes an object sensor and a controller. The controller is configured to compare a sensed range of an object with a range gate based on the azimuth angle of the object. The range gate for each azimuth angle is programmable and is selected to form a contiguous sensing region closely matching the shape of a desired detection zone. The object sensor is switchable between the plurality of sensing fields, wherein a range gate for each sensing field is programmable to form a contiguous sensing region. The object sensor may be a variety of range sensors including radar, ultrasonic, laser or infrared technologies. The range gate and parameters of the sensing field are each programmable through a controller. Further, the controller may automatically vary the range gate or sensing field based on vehicle parameters.

  • Patent number: 6932367
Abstract: A device for converting electrical energy to mechanical energy is disclosed and claimed. The device includes a housing, a shaft, at least two coil assemblies, at least two magnets, and at least two electrical connectors. The shaft is supported by the housing and rotatable therein. The at least two coil assemblies are mounted to one of the housing and the shaft. The at least two magnets are mounted to the other of the housing and the shaft. The at least two electrical connectors are in communication with the at least two coil assemblies, wherein each of the at least two electrical connectors provide electrical energy to each of the at least two coil assemblies independently to generate a magnetic field in same, wherein the magnetic field interacts with the at least two magnets to produce an output torque on the shaft.

  • Patent number: 6776036
Abstract: A mass fluid flow sensor for determining the amount of fluid inducted into an internal combustion engine, for example, is disclosed. The mass fluid flow sensor includes an external intake fluid temperature element which improves the accuracy of the mass fluid reading. An external cold wire element is further provided which improves response time. The mass fluid flow sensor has an improved aerodynamic design which provides a lower system pressure drop. Moreover, the sensor is smaller and lighter and has fewer parts, thus providing better manufacturability. A molded one-piece isolated jet nozzle having a hot element disposed therein is included in the fluid sampling portion. Consequently, an improved lower internal flow passage pressure drop is achieved. Additionally, an improved signal to noise ratio, as well as a larger dynamic range is an advantageous consequence of the present invention. The present invention further provides improved electromagnetic interference performance.
