Abstract: A Wireless Traffic Congestion and Hazardous Condition Detection and Warning System. The system utilizes electronic nodes placed alongside a highway to detect traffic congestion and other hazardous conditions, visually notify drivers of a detected hazardous condition, and wirelessly communicate the hazardous condition to neighboring nodes in order to notify drivers well in advance of the hazard. A detected hazardous condition can also be transmitted through the existing cellular network to enable remote monitoring of traffic flow and remote notification of detected hazardous conditions.
