  • Patent number: 4721340
Abstract: A process for controlling the movement of a universally swivellable cutting arm of a partial cut, cutting machine, comprising a first hydraulic drive for lifting and lowering the cutting arm, and a second hydraulic drive for swivelling the cutting arm transversely to the lifting and lowering direction, consistent at the end of the advancing movement of the cutting head in one direction or both directions. The respective other drive is, in particular, when having attained the nominal profile, simultaneously supplied with pressurized fluid. Conveniently, a predetermined volumetric amount of pressurized fluid is pressed into the other drive on occasion of a reversal of the cutting direction.

  • Patent number: 4720299
Abstract: A method for the direct reduction of particulate iron-oxide-containing material. The method is carried out in a shaft furnace, wherein reformed gas from a reformer is fed as reducing gas to a reducing zone of the shaft furnace, the directly reduced ferrous particles are discharged from the shaft furnace and the top gas forming during reduction is extracted from the upper section of the shaft furnace. A hydrocarbon-containing gas is injected into the shaft furnace. Natural gas is separated into a first fraction enriched with low hydrocarbons and a second fraction enriched with higher hydrocarbons. The first fraction is conducted through the reformer and the second fraction is fed into the shaft furnace.

  • Patent number: 4718645
Abstract: A ladle stand for treating molten metal includes a vertically liftable and lowerable lance carrying car arranged above a ladle placed in the treatment position. On the car, a reservoir for a treating agent is arranged and adapted to communicate with a cavity of the lance. The lance carrying car is movable to a lance exchange station laterally of the deposited ladle. In order to move the lance carrying car between the deposited ladle and the lance exchange station in a simple manner and with rather low structural expenditures, by ensuring a troublefree lance exchange without manual operations, a stationary vertical rail guide for the lance carrying car is each provided above the ladle placed in the treatment position and above the lance exchange station. A carriage accommodating the lance carrying car is displaceable between the upper ends of the two rail guides. The lance carrying car is equipped with a lance manipulator to hold and release a lance.

  • Patent number: 4690387
Abstract: In a method of producing a mixed gas from a process gas of a continuously working gasifier and a discontinuously incurred off-gas of an oxygen blowing converter, the off-gas of the refining process having the lower pressure is sucked into the process gas of the gasifier with the higher pressure via a gas jet ejector. The process gas serves as power gas, and subsequently the mixed gas is dedusted. A plant for producing steel includes a plant for recoverng pig iron formed by a reduction shaft furnace and a melt-down gasifier, and at least one oxygen blowing converter for converting the pig iron into steel. The reduction shaft furnace has a process or top gas duct system, the converter has a converter off-gas duct, and an ejector connects both, the converter off-gas thus being feedable into the top gas duct system to form the mixed gas. Common dedusting and washing devices are provided for the mixed gas and safety devices for preventing oxygen from entering into the mixed gas.

  • Patent number: 4685970
Abstract: In a process of thermally treating fine-grained solids, the latter are preheated in a plurality of heat exchange stages by means of exhaust gases flowing in two parallel exhaust gas lines and are subsequently heated only by exhaust gases from a furnace and are then fed to the reaction vessel and subsequently to the furnace. The two exhaust gas streams are supplied with a mixture of exhaust gases from the furnace and exhaust gases from the reaction vessel. To permit different condition in the heat exchange stages associated with the two exhaust gas lines to be taken into account, two partial streams of exhaust gases are withdrawn from the reaction vessel and supplied to respective ones of the exhaust gas lines. Two partial streams of exhaust gases from the furnace are admixed to respective ones of said partial exhaust gas streams from the reaction vessel.

  • Patent number: 4685899
Abstract: The solid jacket centrifuge is a plural chamber centrifuge (1). A housing (2) is, together with the centrifuge, stationarily supported, noting that a carrier (6) for cylindrical mantle surfaces (7 and 8) is provided within the housing (2). The cylindrical mantle surfaces (7 and 8) delimit annular chambers (9 and 10) and are shiftable in the direction of the axis of the shaft (3). There is further provided a screw conveyor (12) for introducing the material to be dewatered. The material to be dewatered enters the first annular chamber (9) via radial channels (15). By shifting the cylindrical mantle surface (7) in the axial direction, the material is discharged in a radial direction into the concentric greater annular chamber (10). When subsequently the mantle surface (8) is moved in the axial direction, discharge is again effected in the radial direction.
