  • Patent number: 7809367
Abstract: A management, communication and control system including a customer service center 10 with an operator 11. At least one vehicle 20, at least one boat or ship 24, as well as one or more stationary pieces of equipment 25 such as a remote facility or plant that communicates with the service center 10 via a cellular communication network 30 like GSM (European standard) or AMPS (US standard) and/or a satellite communication network 31, either of which is for exchanging information, data and voice communication in both directions. A position of the vehicle(s) 20 is detected by means of a global positioning system (GPS) 40. Emergency assistance vehicles 22 and roadside assistance vehicles 23 can communicate with the service center 10 in a similar manner or in any other way, and are activated by the service center in case of need by one of the remote objects and/or vehicles.

  • Publication number: 20030213242
Abstract: Device (1) for the recovery of thermal energy from a first gas flow (11) from an internal combustion engine (10), the device being designed for the transfer of thermal energy from the first gas flow (11) to a second gas flow (12). The device includes a body (2) having a zigzag-shaped structure, which forms ducts for said gas flows, and the body (2) is designed for the transfer of heat between the first gas flow (11) and the second gas flow (12).

  • Publication number: 20030198856
Abstract: Method and apparatus for establishing a fuel cell unit (10) in the form of an extruded monolith having channels (14), of which every second constitutes a fuel channel (14a) and every other second an oxygen channel (14b). The channels (14) are designed in such a manner that the fuel channels (14a) are displaced laterally in relation to the oxygen channels (14b), in such a way that all the fuel channels (14a) protrude a certain distance from the end points of all the oxygen channels 14b) and all the oxygen channels (14b) protrude a certain distance from the end points of all the fuel channels (14a). The distance is less than the length of respective channels. The invention also relates to a fuel cell device that includes several of the fuel cell units (10) that together establish an enhanced system of fuel cell units that lend themselves to compact.

  • Publication number: 20030184431
Abstract: Method and arrangement for controlling authorization for access to an object, in which a signal communication via electromagnetic waves is established between the object and a wireless portable unit when a tripping device on the object is actuated. The signal communication includes at least one first signal (X1 . . . Xn) that is sent from the object to the portable unit, and at least one second signal (Y3, Z1 . . . Zn) that is sent from the portable unit to the object in response to the first signal(s). The second signal(s) includes sufficient information for verifying that the portable unit has an approved identity. The verification information is checked, a distance is measured between the object and the portable unit and the authorization is confirmed if both the checked verification information is approved and the measured distance is less than a predetermined value.

  • Publication number: 20030112124
Abstract: Method and arrangement for operating a communication system for communication between a central station (10) and one or a plurality or remote objects (20 to 25), as well as such an object, wherein at least one object is operated in a battery saving mode in which it is switched alternatively between a wake period for conducting communication between the object and the central station and a sleep period in which communication is inactive. Each object is designated a predetermined first time (t0) and a time interval (Dt), wherein each object initiates the wake periods at times t0+n (Dt) with n=0, 1, 2, ... and wherein the time interval is longer than the wake period.

  • Publication number: 20030102958
Abstract: System and method for unlocking an object (20, 24, 25) for an authorized person, by transmitting an unlock signal and a device signal from a remote station (10) to the object and storing the same in a memory (125), by comparing the device signal with an input conducted by a person at the object, for verification of authorization of the person; and by unlocking the object by means of a locking unit (130) if the authorization of the person has been verified.
