Abstract: The invention relates to a cross-sectional configuration of a transverse girder (1) on a roof luggage carrier of a vehicle. According to the invention, the outer surfaces are symmetric in relation to a vertical longitudinal plane (2) of the transverse girder. The underside (3) is substantially a flat, horizontal lower surface (b) facing towards the vehicle roof. The upper width (a) of the transverse girder (1) is smaller than (b). The upper side (4) and the underside (3) are connected via convexly curved and rounded lateral surfaces (5, 6). Relationships and ratios of width and curvatures provide improved aerodynamic characteristics and a reduction of the noise level caused by wind according to the invention.

Abstract: The invention relates to a roof luggage carrier for motor vehicles with roof railing having transverse girders (2) and a removable clamping assembly (3). The clamping assembly (3) includes supporting jaws (5) that can be inserted in a lower longitudinal slot (11) on the transverse girder (2), and of clamping jaws (6). The clamping assembly (3) is actuated by means of a clamping screw bolt (8) which extends inside the transverse girder (2) in its longitudinal direction. This makes it possible to achieve simple assembly and easy handling. In another preferred embodiment the longitudinal edges of longitudinal slot (11) are provided with longitudinal edges (12, 13) which are surrounded by longitudinal grooves in the supporting jaws (5) and clamping jaws 6, so that widening of the longitudinal slot (11) when tilting stresses occur is prevented.

Abstract: The invention relates to a covering cap assembly (1) for a transverse girder (2) of a roof luggage rack designed so that a profiled forward end of the girder can be covered and locked. According to the invention the assembly is held together by a hinge (6) and consists of a covering cap (3) with a lock (4) and a bearing element (5). The bearing element (5) is inserted into a longitudinal slot at the underside (14) of the transverse girder (2) and is positioned and held in place interlockingly in the transverse profile. Retention in the longitudinal slot is provided by a locking element (21) and a rivet (24). In this way a simple construction of a cover cap assembly is had that is inexpensive in manufacture and assembly and is reliable in its functions and easy to handle.
