  • Publication number: 20040016224
Abstract: A sliver delivery and opening device having a pivotably seated sliver intake cylinder driven by a worm gear arrangement comprising a worm wheel connected to the sliver intake cylinder that meshes with a worm affixed to a drive shaft. The worm includes thread windings conforming to a superimposed profile that axially offsets the worm relative to the worm wheel, thus preventing placement of a tooth of the worm wheel on a thread head of the worm when the worm wheel pivotally engages the worm. The amount of offset is measured between a plane of symmetry intersecting the superimposed profile of the worm thread windings and a pivot plane intersecting a center axis of the worm wheel. A positioning device, comprising at least one magnet and a ferromagnetic positioning element, prepositions the worm wheel relative to the pivot plane for pivotal engagement of the worm wheel and the worm.

  • Patent number: 6659386
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for contactless yarn monitoring in a textile yarn winding operation wherein a yarn is wound on a bobbin while being delivered lengthwise in a yarn travel direction toward the bobbin and simultaneously executing traversing motions generally perpendicular to the yarn travel direction. A sensor device (6) is provided which detects measured values such as diameter or mass in a moving yarn. The measurement errors caused by the traversing motions may be compensated for by ascertaining position-dependent correction values, monitoring the position of the yarn in the measurement region to determine one or more instantaneous position of the yarn, and compensating for the applicable measurement error is performed on the basis of the instantaneous position of the yarn (3). The invention is applicable to sensor devices (6) that perform measurements in the traversing region of the yarn (3).

  • Patent number: 6637695
Abstract: A method of winding the yarn traveling at a work station of a spinning bobbin winding machine or of a bobbin winding machine from a yarn source onto a take-up bobbin (4). After each yarn interruption, the yarn end is unwound from the take-up bobbin (4), a yarn joinder reconnects the yarn source and the take-up bobbin (4) and the winding process is then continued if a tolerable yarn joining location is present. Upon the occurrence of each yarn interruption, the amount of yarn wound since the last yarn joinder is determined. If such amount of yarn is determined to be less than a predetermined amount of yarn, a sufficient amount of yarn is unwound and separated from the take-up bobbin (4) to include the last-occurring yarn joining location in the separated yarn section. This results in an optical improvement in the quality of the finished textile product.

  • Patent number: 6592066
Abstract: A thread guide (33) for traversing and guiding a thread (5) in a rotating winding bobbin (1) for producing a cross-wound bobbin in a bobbin winder of a textile machine by controlling vibrations of the thread guide. The thread guide (33) is permanently and directly connected to at least one energy accumulator (20,21) throughout the entire traversing motion. • Patent number: 6590307
Abstract: A device for the attitude control of a rapidly rotating rotor, especially a spinning rotor, supported in a contactless manner. The device comprises a sensor device for the continuous generation of rotor attitude signals and a control device (6) that processes the rotor attitude signals and continuously outputs a correcting variable to an actuating device that influences the rotor attitude. The control device (6) is set up in such that the rise of the waveform of a resultant signal from which the correcting variable is derived is limited to a maximum amount and, upon the occurrence of higher oscillation frequencies of the rotor attitude signals, the oscillation amplitudes of the resultant signal for the actuating device can at the same time be reduced with a small phase error. The device makes it possible to achieve low energy consumption, an expanded controllability and greater operational safety in a simple manner.
