Patent number: 10075376Abstract: A network routing method includes operating a plurality of mobile computing devices in a cellular network environment with each mobile computing device including one or more cellular network interface devices each operable as a client of a cellular network that provides access to a WAN. Non-locally reachable network traffic originating on each mobile computer device is routed the one or more cellular network interfaces to a network controller reachable over the WAN. The network controller receives the non-locally reachable traffic and routes the non-locally reachable traffic to its original destination IP address. The network controller further operates to cause reply traffic responsive to the non-locally reachable traffic to be routed back to the network controller. The network controller further operates to route the reply traffic back to the originating mobile computer device over any of the one more cellular network interfaces.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 2013Date of Patent: September 11, 2018Assignee: WAAV INC.Inventors: John C Fulknier, Brian J Smith

Patent number: 8422491Abstract: A mobile network configuration 500 includes a mobile router 525 forming one or more mobile subnets and including a plurality of cellular network interface devices 552, 554, 556, 558 installed thereon. The mobile network 500 further includes a network controller 520 installed as a node on a WAN 515. The mobile network 500 utilizes one or more cellular networks 505, 510 to provide network access to the WAN 515 via gateways 568, 570. The mobile router 525 provides a network interface between one or more local subnets 530, 535 and the at least one cellular network 505, 510. The mobile network 500 operates to establish an IP tunnel between the mobile router 525 and the network controller 520 for each of the plurality of cellular network interface devices 552, 554, 556, 558 installed on the mobile router 525 and to exchange network traffic between the mobile router and the network controller over any one of the IP tunnels.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 2008Date of Patent: April 16, 2013Assignee: WAAV Inc.Inventors: John C. Publication number: 20070110017Abstract: A wireless mobile router (300) includes a CPU (222) and one or more network interfaces for hosting locally reachable devices. The router (300) includes one or more cellular network interface devices (316) configured to make a network connection with a cellular network. The router (300) operates to translate data packets received from locally reachable devices and to direct the translated data packets to public IP address over the cellular network. In addition, a stack of mobile routers (400) includes two or more mobile routers (300) interfaced together to make two or more network connections with a cellular network for increasing bandwidth and for load balancing network traffic passing from the router (300) to the cellular network. The wireless mobile router (300) and the stack (400) are suitable for use in a moving vehicle.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 6, 2007Publication date: May 17, 2007Applicant: WAAV INC.Inventors: John Fulknier, Brian Smith
