  • Patent number: 5167371
Abstract: A fan jet nozzle for surface coating, particularly for high-pressure spraying, is created whose inside dome is not fashioned rotationally-symmetrical. The dome interior is semicircular in the one plane of section in which the nozzle slot extends, but is ogive in the plane perpendicular thereto, the plane which is perpendicular to the lengthwise plane of the fan jet nozzle slot. The two sections, semicircular and ogive, steadily verge into one another around the center axis of the nozzle. The dome configuration results in less wear from abrasion of spraying fluid through the nozzle slot, in particular, onto the wall edge between the dome and the nozzle slot.

  • Patent number: 5140935
Abstract: A fluidization and conveyor arrangement for electrostatic powder coating devices. The arrangement includes a container pivotable by 180.degree. on a carrying frame, and a cover, having a fluidization plate. A powder discharge tube and a compressed air tube pass through the cover and into the container. A transport package, for example a sack filled with powder, is introduced into the container. The container is then closed with the cover, and is pivoted by 180.degree. to an operating position, in which fluidization and discharge of the powder may be affected.

  • Patent number: 5067434
Abstract: An electrostatic paint spray gun having built-in high-voltage generator that is cast into insulating material is improved in that the dielectric strength is increased in the region of that face of the insulating member that is adjacent to the charging electrode. In a first solution, the high-voltage cascade is cast such into the plastic member for this purpose that its high-voltage output is situated adjacent the input transformer, whereby a small plug tube for the stranded electrode lead is additionally co-cast into the insulating member parallel to the cascade. In a second solution, an annular gap is left free between the stranded electrode lead and the insulating member, is filled with insulating oil and is sealed with a seal.

  • Patent number: 4934598
Abstract: A component deficiency safety device for two-component sprayer systems comprised of pneumatic and hydraulic/mechanical detection and actuation members. The safety device is adapted for placement in the compressed air line of a spray system, in particular, in the compressed air line that powers the spray component air motors and pumps. A pneumatically controlled main valve cuts-off the compressed air to the air motors upon detection of a deficiency condition. The main valve is controlled through a pneumatic control input which is fed from the output of an OR valve having a start-up input and a normal operation/safety shut-down input. Individual pressure transducer/valve assemblies are associated with each component supply line. The outputs from these assemblies form separate inputs to an AND valve which, in turn, enables the main valve only when both transducer/valve assemblies indicate the presence of proper component supply pressure.

  • Patent number: 4917580
Abstract: A drive mechanism for controlling pump mechanisms for simultaneous delivery of two atomizer liquids in selectable ratio to a sprayer device comprising two pneumatically actuated piston-cylinder drive mechanisms (air motors comprising reversing valve) and two pumps driven by the piston rods of the air motors. The intake side of each of said pumps is connected to a delivery side which, in turn, is connected to the sprayer device. The piston rods of the air motors are mechanically connected to one another by an adjustable balance arm. Both air motor are respectively provided with two pilot valves that are mechanically actuatable by the motor piston to control the reversing valves of the air motors.

  • Patent number: 4828185
Abstract: An electrostatic powder spray gun comprises a powder channel for a powder-air mixture to be sprayed, the powder channel extending through a pistol tube and discharging axially forward at the forward end of the gun through an annular opening which is coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the pistol tube. An auxiliary air line extends through the pistol tube and discharges at the forward end and is constructed in such a manner that the auxiliary air line discharges axially forward as an annular opening coaxial with the annular powder opening, in particular radially and slightly in front of the annular powder opening. An air deflecting member is arranged in front of the auxiliary air annular opening and is seated at the free end of a rod which extends centrally through the pistol tube and is axially displaceable therein. The rod is mechanically coupled to the trigger of the spray gun so that the air deflecting member can be adjusted from the trigger.

  • Patent number: 4820056
Abstract: A fluidization apparatus for powder coating devices is provided which comprises a housing that is subdivided by a porous horizontal wall into an upper housing portion and a lower housing portion. The lower housing portion is provided with a compressed air feed. The upper housing portion is provided with a connecting conduit to an injector fed with compressed air and is provided with a powder feed above and through its cover. The lower housing portion is a cylinder having a circular floor area in which an air turbine is mounted and which includes an unbalanced mass. The upper housing portion is a cuboid having a quadratic floor area, whereby the length of a quadratic side corresponds to the length of the diameter of a filter mat having the shape of a circular disk, the filter mat separating the upper and lower housing portions.

  • Patent number: 4775105
Abstract: An electrostatic powder spray gun comprises a powder cup and is constructed such that the powder cup comprises a removable cover which is secured to the pistol tube of the gun in an easily-detachable manner, whereby a conveying tube and an air tube extend through the cover and are held thereat. The air tube projects beyond the cover and, given the cover secured to the pistol tube, projects into a spring-loaded discharge valve of the compressed air feed line and thereby holds the same in the open position against spring pressure. Given the cover secured to the pistol tube, the orifice of a powder channel extending in the pistol tube is constructed as a connection for a powder feed line leading from a remote powder preparation system.
