Patent number: 8359949Abstract: A hammer or other hand tool has a head to which is attached a handle. The handle has a plurality of spring steel rods extending substantially the length of the handle and extending into the head where the rods are affixed by a plate. Spacer plates with holes are positioned at spaced locations along the rods. The rods and spacer plates are encased in a rubber material that forms the outer surface of the handle. The rods and spacer plates at the end of the handle form a reinforced lanyard hole. A collar is formed on the handle adjacent the head. The head of the hammer has angled deflecting pads adjacent the striking faces. A raised rim on the head opposite the handle forms a stand surface to enable the barrel shaped head to stand with the handle projecting upwardly.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2011Date of Patent: January 29, 2013Assignee: Walter Meier (Manufacturing) Inc.Inventors: Timothy Scott Onello, Charles Weber

Patent number: 8282088Abstract: An apparatus for securing a workpiece is provided. In one form, the apparatus is configured such that the clamping jaws of the apparatus lie flush against the workpiece and the pressure from the pressure application mechanism is distributed substantially equally over the surface of the workpiece in contact with the jaws of the apparatus. Additionally, the apparatus is provided with a brake mechanism which allows at least one of the clamping jaw members to be secured in a desired position on the elongated member without having to tilt the jaw member connected thereto. In another form, the apparatus may have two brake release mechanisms to account for the various positions the apparatus may be placed in with respect to a workpiece. The apparatus may also have mating structures which allow the apparatus to be connected to a work surface. In addition, the apparatus may also include a pivoting pressure application member handle to assist the user in applying or removing pressure to the workpiece.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 2010Date of Patent: October 9, 2012Assignee: Walter Meier (Manufacturing) Inc.Inventors: John C.
