    Abstract: This invention is directed to a stopper for a wire cable or a wire rope. It comprises to channels, two jaws moveable with respect to each other in the two channels and two wedges for moving the jaws. There are no gears for moving the jaws. With the movement of the wedges partially out of the channels the wedges force the jaws toward each other so as to clamp the wire cable or wire rope.
