The first set of cleats has a plurality of first cleat sections. The first set of cleats are oriented at a first acute angle with respect to the first side edge. The second set of cleats has a plurality of second cleat sections. The second set of cleats are oriented at a second acute angle with respect to the second side edge.

Abstract: Universal belted chain including a first belt, a second belt, a first rod, a first fastener and a second fastener. The first belt has a first upper surface and a first lower surface. The first lower surface has a first channel formed therein. The second belt has a second upper surface and a second lower surface. The second lower surface has a second channel formed therein. The first fastener attaches the first rod to the first upper surface by extending the first fastener through the first belt. An end of the first fastener opposite the first rod is recessed in the first channel with respect to the first lower surface. The second fastener attaches the first rod to the second upper surface by extending the second fastener through the second belt. An end of the second fastener opposite the first rod is recessed in the second channel with respect to the second lower surface.

The conveyor belt also has a first belt end and a second belt end that is opposite the first belt end. The first cleat is attached to the conveyor belt. The first cleat includes a main cleat portion and a first tail cleat portion. The main cleat portion has a main cleat first end and a main cleat second end. The main cleat first end is closer to the first side edge than the main cleat second end. The main cleat portion is oriented at an angle of less than about 90 degrees with respect to the first side edge so that the main cleat first end is closer to the first belt end than the main cleat second end. The first tail cleat portion includes a tail cleat first end and a tail cleat second end. The tail cleat first end is closer to the first belt end than the tail cleat second end. The tail cleat second end is proximate the main cleat second end.

Abstract: Belting for use in a conveyor. The belting includes a fabric base and an environmentally friendly rubber composition. The environmentally friendly rubber composition is applied to at least one surface of the fabric base. The environmentally friendly rubber composition includes a rubber component, a filler, a processing oil and a vulcanizing agent. The filler is provided at a concentration of between about 50 and 150 parts per hundred weight of the rubber component. The processing oil is substantially devoid of aromatic oil. The processing oil is provided at a concentration of between about 20 and 60 parts per hundred weight of the rubber component. The vulcanizing agent is provided at a concentration of between about 1 and 10 parts per hundred weight of the rubber component.

The belt has a surface. The at least one cleat extends from the surface of the belt. The at least one cleat includes a plurality of paddle regions and a plurality of web regions. The plurality of paddle regions is in a spaced-apart configuration. The web regions have a flexibility that is greater than a flexibility of the paddle regions. One of the web regions is positioned between adjacent paddle regions.
