  • Patent number: 4142759
Abstract: A wind deflector for the sliding top of a motor vehicle wherein pivoting of the deflector from a collapsed to an upward effective position is controlled in precisely-timed relation with and by sliding of the top from an closed to an open position, respectively, so that contact or interference between the two parts is avoided. The top may be adjusted after installation so that it is flush with the surrounding portion of the vehicle, without, however, varying the aforesaid timed relation.

  • Patent number: 4089557
Abstract: An openable vehicle roof structure to serve as a retractable sliding roof or an air vent has a roof opening in the horizontal portion; a downwardly recessed frame surrounding the opening on at least its front and side edges, as an integral part of the roof structure; a rigid panel matching the opening and serving as a closure member for it when aligned with the edges thereof; a pivot connection between the panel and the roof frame which permits the panel to be pivoted about a horizontal axis located near its front edge, the rear edge of the panel being thereby movable upwardly out of the roof opening; two rigid, generally flat shutter members arranged adjacent to the lateral edges of the panel to extend along at least a major portion of the panel length; a connecting mechanism for movably connecting the shutter members to the panel so that, when the rigid panel is in its open, upwardly pivoted position, they extend downwardly from its lateral edges, thereby substantially covering the gap between the panel and

  • Patent number: 4023858
Abstract: A crank and drive mechanism for a raisable sliding top such as of a motor vehicle is provided with a crank arm, with a mechanism to permit a plurality of rotations to said crank arm for a complete extension and retraction of the top, including an end stop.Means are provided to permit, with a single operating member, the actuation of the top into sliding movements, closing movements, opening movements, locking it in a position established, maintaining the top in a locked position releasably without the necessity for additional parts and automatically indicating the closed and the open positions of the top.

  • Patent number: 4018476
Abstract: An automobile sliding roof structure in which a transparent sliding roof panel is associated with an independently retractable opaque canopy panel and where the vertical gap between the roof panel and the roof frame is covered by a U-shaped shutter, moving with the roof panel, but not pivoting with the latter, and by a transverse stationary shutter at the rear of the opening, while skirt portions extending downwardly from the roof panel frame close the gaps between the two shutter elements and the roof panel.

  • Patent number: 3989029
Abstract: A liquid fuel burning heater for vehicles in which the burner unit has a housing which is surrounded by a radially spaced casing, and the heat exchanger has spaced inner and outer jackets axially aligned with the housing and casing, so that the air flows between them past the latter into the former. The casing and at least the outer jacket of the heat exchanger are integral parts of a unitary casting; the burner unit may be a self-contained subassembly, pre-assembled in its housing.

  • Patent number: 3989030
Abstract: A liquid fuel burning heater for use in vehicles comprising a burner unit enclosed within a burner housing which in turn is surrounded by the heater housing. A lateral head extending from the heater housing encloses within a hermetically sealed space the connecting end of the ignition plug, a duct leading from this head space either to the atmosphere outside the vehicle, or to the intake side of the burner unit, thereby evacuating leaked exhaust gases.

  • Patent number: 3976325
Abstract: A crank drive assembly for sliding roof mechanisms of automobiles, in which a hand-operated crank drives a push-pull cable, the assembly including a releasable clutch between a drive shaft and a drive pinion transmitting the crank motion to the drive cable, and an arresting mechanism blocking the pinion, whenever the clutch mechanism is disengaged. The clutch mechanism and the arresting mechanism are simultaneously operated by a pivoting motion of the drive crank.

  • Patent number: 3960404
Abstract: A sliding roof structure for automobiles where the sliding roof panel is openable upwardly in a venting mode and retractable in a retracting mode and where an inner opening, defined by a recessed roof frame is surrounded by a fixed canopy, while a first movable canopy portion, or panel canopy, is connected to the sliding roof panel and another movable canopy portion is connected to a transversely extending movable rain channel underneath the rear edge of the outer roof opening. The movable rain channel is operatively connected to the panel canopy, supporting the rear edge of the latter, when it is not lifted in the venting mode.
