Patents Assigned to WebTrends Corporation
  • Publication number: 20080209024
Abstract: Different web pages on a web server are associated with different qualification profiles, each of which is assigned a value by the web-site proprietor. Traffic data hits at the web-site are analyzed to determine which web pages the visitor viewed on the web server. Each qualifying visitor is thereafter associated with a qualification profile and a corresponding value. In another aspect of the invention, visitors arriving as a result of an advertisement on a remote web-site are tracked. The web-site proprietor is consequently able to determine a return on advertising investment based on the value of visitors brought to the site by the tracked advertisement.

  • Patent number: 7206838
Abstract: A system, method and storage medium embodying computer-readable code for analyzing traffic data in a distributed computing environment are described. The distributed computing environment includes a plurality of interconnected systems operatively coupled to a server, a source of traffic data hits and one or more results tables categorized by an associated data type. Each results table includes a plurality of records. The server is configured to exchange data packets with each interconnected system. Each traffic data hit corresponds to a data packet exchanged between the server and one such interconnected system. Each traffic data hit is collected from the traffic data hits source as access information into one such record in at least one results table according to the data type associated with the one such results table. Each of the records in the results table corresponds to a different type of access information for the data type associated with the results table.

  • Publication number: 20020083188
Abstract: A method for tracking and reporting visitor-side web page loading times over a web site where a web page is stored on a first server coupled to a wide area network. The web page is provided with web page code and data mining code which is uploaded through the wide area network to a visitor computer responsive to a request over the wide area network from the visitor computer. The data mining code is operated on the visitor computer to obtain a begin state at a start of the web page load. A state change is then on the visitor computer to an end state caused by a completed upload of the web page to the visitor computer. The process then proceeds with comparing the begin state and the end state to obtain page loading time data and receiving the page loading time data at a second server.

  • Publication number: 20020040394
Abstract: The preferred method for implementing the invention includes presetting IP filters and storing a web page on a first server coupled to a wide area network, whereby the web page including data mining code. The web page would then be uploaded to a visitor computer responsive to a request over the wide area network from the visitor computer, whereby the visitor computer would have a designated IP address. The data mining code would then be operated on the visitor computer to obtain technical data. A subsequent step would be receiving at a second server the technical data and the IP address of the visitor computer and generating a log file incorporating the technical data and IP address. The IP filters would be applied to the IP address stored in the log file and a database file would then be generated from the log file responsive to the IP filters.

  • Patent number: 6317787
Abstract: A method for analyzing traffic data generated by a plurality of web servers, which host a single web site. The site is mirrored on each server. A traffic data hit is generated responsive to each access of one of the servers. The hit includes data representing the time of the access. Each data hit is stored in a log file on the server accessed. The first-stored data hit is read from each server. Each of the read data hits are compared, and the oldest data hit is passed to a log file analyzer. The next-stored data hit is read from the server from which the passed data hit was read, and a second comparison is performed on the read data hits, with the oldest data hit being passed to the log file analyzer. This process continues until all of the data hits are read, compared, and passed to the log file analyzer. This results in passing all of the data hits to the log file analyzer in the chronological order in which the hits were generated.
