Patent number: 10379211Abstract: Disclosed is a method for generating a quality measure for a frequency set. The quality measure indicates the quality of the frequency set for use in a multi frequency ranging method for estimating the range to an object. The method for generating a quality measure comprises the steps of determining the smallest distance between any two range lines of a set of range lines in an N-dimensional phase space. The N-dimensional phase space comprises at least a first dimension representing a first phase difference, and a second dimension representing a second phase difference. The N-dimensional phase space has a dimension equal to the number of phase differences used by the multi frequency ranging method. The range lines represent all theoretical possible combinations of the phase differences.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2015Date of Patent: August 13, 2019Assignee: Weibel Scientific A/SInventor: Jens Jørgen Nielsen

Patent number: 10379212Abstract: Disclosed is a method for estimating the range to an object, the method comprising: transmitting a first signal towards the object; receiving a reflected echo signal reflected from the object; and determining a measured point (MP) in an N-dimensional phase space. The range to the object is estimated by selecting a candidate range estimate from a plurality of candidate range estimates, each candidate range estimate in the unambiguous range R having an unique associated point in the N-dimensional phase space positioned on range lines, and wherein a candidate range estimate is selected dependent on the distance from its unique associated point in the N-dimensional phase space to the measured point (MP), so that a single range estimate is generated using information from at least two measured phase differences without directly averaging ambiguous range estimates.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 2015Date of Patent: August 13, 2019Assignee: Weibel Scientific A/SInventor: Jens Jørgen Nielsen

Patent number: 7667637Abstract: There is provided a radar system for detection of one or more objects. The radar system comprises a radar wave transmitter for simultaneously transmitting a CW radar signal and a FM-CW or MF radar signal, and a first radar wave receiver for receiving CW and FM-CW or MF radar signals, reflected from one or more objects present in a detection range of the radar system. The system may further comprise a first CW mixer for mixing CW transmission signals and reflected CW signals received by the first receiver, and a first FM-CW or MF mixer for mixing FM-CW or MF transmission signals and corresponding reflected FM-CW or MF signals received by the first receiver.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2005Date of Patent: February 23, 2010Assignee: Weibel Scientific A/SInventors: Peder Richardt Pedersen, Fernando Casanova Galeano
