Abstract: A hair treatment composition contains one or more polymers or copolymers, each of which is made from one or more monomers, in a cosmetic foundation. The respective monomers are selected from the group consisting of ethylenic unsaturated saccharides, ethylenic unsaturated saccharic acids, derivatives of ethylenic unsaturated saccharides and derivatives of ethylenic unsaturated saccharic acids. The unsaturated sachharides and saccharic acids are present in cyclic or open chain form.

Abstract: The hair treatment composition has the Theological properties of an oil but contains non-hydrophobic ingredients. It includes at least one fatty acid glyceride polyalkylene glycol ether or at least one fatty acid partial glyceride polyalkylene glycol ether with at least 30 alkylene glycol units respectively; at least one surfactant different from the at least one fatty acid glyceride polyalkylene glycol ether and the at least one fatty acid partial glyceride polyalkylene glycol ether with at least 30 alkylene glycol units and at least one thickener. The hair treatment composition is dfree of ingredients that cause foaming of the composition prior to or during application to hair. It provides hair to which it is applied with improved hair shaping, long-lasting luster and soft feel. It behaves like an oil, without having an oil in the classical sense as its principal ingredient.

Abstract: The composition for removing or lightening hair color is in the form of a hair color lightening suspension and is mixed with an aqueous oxidizing composition immediately prior to use. The composition includes a combination of from 0.1 to 80 percent by weight of one or more organic lipophilic compounds, namely vegetable or animal fats, vegetable or animal oils, vegetable or animal waxes, paraffin hydrocarbons, higher alcohols or ethers, aliphatic and aromatic esters and/or silicone oils; from 0.1 to 40 percent by weight of at least one lipophilic inorganic or organic thickener, which forms an oleogel and/or lipogel with the lipophilic compounds; from 0.1 to 40 percent by weight of one or more hydrophilic inorganic or organic thickeners; from 10 to 65 percent by weight of at least one inorganic persalt; from 10 to 45 percent by weight of at least one alkaline reacting salt; and auxiliary substances and cosmetic additive ingredients, as needed.

Abstract: The object of the present invention is a colorant for the semi-permanent tinting of keratin fibers, said colorant being based on a combination of nonoxidative dyes and polymethine dyes of the tautomeric formula (Ia)/(Ib) and a method for tinting keratin fibers.

Abstract: Gasified particles for cosmetic treatments, particularly hair treatments, are described. The gasified particles contain at least one gas enclosed in a solid enveloping material. The enveloping material is selected so that the gas is released on contact of the enveloping material with water or moisture. The release of the gas can be accompanied by a detectable acoustic effect (pop effect). The hair treatment composition also can provide a hair fixing effect. Furthermore an instant gel preparation is described substantially comprising a mixture of dry substances, which contains at least one gel former and at least one solid substance producing a detectable acoustic effect on contact with moisture, especially gasified particles. The gasified particles are used as acoustic indicators for the readiness of the instant preparation after liquid addition.

Abstract: The scissors for cutting filamentary material, especially hair, include two shanks (4) pivotally connected to each other at a pivot joint (2); respective blades (7) for cutting the filamentary material extending from the shanks (4) and an electrically powered vibrator (5) for vibrating one of the shanks in a longitudinal direction at an ultrasonic frequency and with a displacement of about 100 to 200 &mgr;m. The pivot joint (2) includes a nail (14) extending from one shank, an eccentric washer (15) embedded in the other shank which engages around the nail and a miniature motor (17) for rotating the washer (15) and the shank in which it is embedded. In other embodiments the electrically powered vibrator (5) include a piezoelectric transducer (8) arranged to connect a shank to one of the blades or an exciter coil (19) wrapped around a strut region made of a magnetostrictive material in one shank.

Abstract: The pigment-containing foamable gel for temporarily coloring the hair contains from 35 to 98 percent by weight water; one or more gel-forming thickener that imparts a yield point to the composition; at least one pigment; at least one film-forming, hair-fixing polymer; at least one foam-producing surfactant and at least one propellant, in combination with a suitable aerosol package and a foam-forming device for foaming the gel. The concentration of the thickener or thickeners in the gel is selected so that, on the one hand, the viscosity of the gel is sufficiently reduced so that foaming of the gel is possible and, on the other hand, the yield point is at least large enough so that settling of the pigment is prevented. The easily foamable composition has a hair-fixing effect and temporarily colors the hair, providing a high color brilliance and lustrous appearance. The composition is washable from the hair at will and the color of the hair provided by it has good fastness to rubbing.

Abstract: The method for temporarily coloring and later decolorizing hair includes applying a colorant to the hair, which contains a monomethine or polymethine dye of formula (Ia/Ib), or a salt thereof, W=L−V′(Ia)&rlarr2;W′−L=V (Ib), wherein W=L−V′ and W′=L−V are tautomers, W and V are each a substituted five-member or six-member heterocyclic ring, each of which is a substituted pyrazolone, substituted pyridone, substituted dioxothiazoline, substituted rhodanine, substituted dioxoimidazolidine or substituted barbituric acid; wherein L represents —[—CH═CH—]m—CR═[═CH—CH═]n═ and R is hydrogen, a phenyl group, a halogen atom, a methyl group or a carboxamido group, and wherein m and n are each 0, 1 or 2, but n+m≦2; then allowing the colorant to act for from 10 to 45 min at 20 to 50° C.

Abstract: Compositions for treating hair prepared using fluorinated acids to neutralize polymers with basic groups are described, which contain a complex formed from at least one fluorinated acid and at least one polymer with basic groups or a complex of a salt of a fluorinated acid and a polymer with protonated or quaternized amine groups, and which also contain at least one film-forming, hair-fixing polymer. These compositions deposit a reduced amount of residue on the hair without reducing the hair-fixing performance.

Abstract: The aqueous ready-to-apply composition for permanent waving of hair has a pH of 4 to 8.5 and from 3 to 28% by weight of at least one N-alkylmercaptoacetamide of formula (I): wherein R represents a straight-chain alkyl group having from 3 to 6 carbon atoms or a straight-chain hydroxyalkyl group having from 3 to 6 carbon atoms; or a salt thereof; and at least one standard cosmetic additive ingredient, such as thickeners, wetting agents and emulsifiers, perfume oils, conditioners and buffer substances. The ready-to-apply composition can be made by mixing two or more components, one of which contains the N-alkylmercaptoacetamide. A method for permanent waving of hair using the ready-to-apply composition is also described. A process for making the N-alkylmercapto-acetamides includes reacting a suitable amine with methylthioglycolate under a protective gas atmosphere at temperatures that are not greater than 30° C.

In a preferred embodiment four channels (13) for venting product and four weakly sealed sections are provided spaced 90° from each other around the container neck.

Abstract: In a two-component container (1) a connection is formed between two chambers (6, 7) by ejecting a sealing plug (5). By screwing one container (3) into a thread (4) connected to another container (2) the sealing plug (5) which is provided with two stoppers (12, 13) is pressed out of its retaining members (14, 15). Sealing takes place in a reliable manner by two separate stoppers (12, 13) of the sealing plug (5). When the container (3) is screwed in, first the lower stopper (13) is ejected by the upper stopper (12) and then the upper stopper (12) is ejected by an ejection member (22). The two-component container (1) is suitable for holding peroxide and hair dye separately. After it has been ejected, the sealing plug (5) assists in the mixing of the said two components.

Abstract: The hair cleaning preparation for improving the shine of the hair is an aqueous solution or emulsion which contains water; from 5 to 50 percent by weight of an anionic, nonionic and/or amphoteric surfactant compound; from 2 to 10 percent by weight of a mixture of at least two fruit acids selected from the group consisting of lactic acid, citric acid, maleic acid, tartaric acid, gluconic acid, fumaric acid and succinic acid; from 0.2 to 2 percent by weight of at least one ingredient selected from the group consisting of pantothenol, pantothenic acid and esters of pantothenic acid and at least one cosmetic ingredient selected from the group consisting of perfume oils, preservatives and pH buffer substances. This hair cleaning preparation does not contain any oily or greasy ingredients.

Abstract: The aqueous-alcoholic hair fixing composition contains from 0.1 to 10 percent by weight of shellac, neutralized from 50 to 100%; from 0.01 to 20 percent by weight of at least one film-forming hair fixing synthetic polymer, advantageously a terpolymer made from octylacrylamide, t-butylamino-ethylmethacrylate and at least two monomers selected from the group consisting of methacrylic acid, esters of acrylic acid and esters of methacrylic acid; from 30 to 70 percent by weight of at least one alcohol containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms; from 30 to 70 percent by weight water; and, for compositions to be sprayed by means of a propellant, from 15 to 85% by weight of a propellant, advantageously dimethylether, an alkane, N2, N2O or CO2. The combination of the shellac and the synthetic hair fixing polymer causes a synergistic viscosity lowering which advantageously promotes rinsibility without impairing fixing performance.

Abstract: The subject of the invention is a cosmetic preparation containing Ilex resin which is isolated from leaves of Ilex aquifolium or Ilex paraguariensis, a method for isolating Ilex resin, and the Ilex resin obtained by this method. Skin treatment preparations containing Ilex resin produce a stable protective film on the skin. Hair treatment preparations containing Ilex resin intensify the color, increase luster, contribute to good wet combability, and improve the elasticity of the hair treated with the preparation.

Abstract: A pearlescent concentrate containing: (a) from 30 to 80% by weight of an alkyl ether sulfatef; (b) from 5 to 20% by weight of a surfactant selected from the group consisting of a betaine, an alkyl and/or alkenyl oligoglycoside, and mixtures thereof; and (c) from 1 to 10% by weight of an (oligo)ethylene glycol mono- and/or difatty acid ester, all weights being based on the total weight of the composition, and wherein the concentrate is polyol-free.
