  • Patent number: 4797790
Abstract: A dimmed motor vehicle headlight is provided with an ellipsoidally shaped reflector, where a light source is disposed at a first focal point of the reflector. A collector lens is supported by a frame having an annular part which is connected to the reflector and where the lens is disposed behind a second focal point of the reflector. A diaphragm is provided which is in the path of the light beam ahead of the collector lens and disposed at the respective focal point of the collector lens. The diaphragm is provided adjustable and with an upper substantially horizontally running edge that generates a light-dark boundary. The diaphragm and the frame are formed as a single part. The frame is provided by a beaker shaped sheet metal piece, where a cut out floor area serves to support the lens and where arm shaped webs are cut free from a wall forming a jacket face. One of these webs is angled toward the optical axis such that its upper end edge forms the diaphragm edge for the light-dark boundary.

  • Patent number: 4727458
Abstract: The invention refers to a motor vehicle projection headlight, where the projection lens is in part covered by a light transmitting plate. The light transmitting plate has edge regions which are of a wider diameter than the lens. An annular light impermeable cover, which surrounds the lens immediately and at a small distance, is disposed at a distance to the edge region of the light permeable plate. The surface of the cover toward the light transmitting plate is of high reflectivity.

  • Patent number: 4615409
Abstract: A speed control device is provided for a motor vehicle allowing the driver to maintain the vehicle at constant speed while still remaining full control with his foot over the acceleration and deceleration of the vehicle. The path of a foot pedal is subdivided into two sections, where the first section corresponds to an acceleration of the motor vehicle and where the second section corresponds to a deceleration of the motor vehicle. A snap-in detention device is provided at the junction point of the two sections such that a foot can rest with a force slightly above the weight of the foot against the foot pedal while the speed of the motor vehicle is maintained constant. The foot pedal is connected to a piston, which in turn is supported by a relatively soft spring. The soft spring is supported by a second piston, which in turn is supported by a harder spring resting against a casing wall.

  • Patent number: 4612608
Abstract: The invention provides a headlight for a motor vehicle with a concave reflector, which has a light filament disposed in its inner part with the longitudinal axis of the filament about in parallel with the direction of the outgoing beam. The reflector is composed of a surface spanned by nearly parabolic branches generated by the intersection of the reflector and of planes including the axis of the reflector. The upper part of the reflector includes parabola branches having a focal point close to the vertex point and a focal point more remote from the vertex. At least the lower part of the reflector has the focal points of the conical sections near parabolic branches form a focal line, where the length of the focal line coincides at least in part about with the position and length of the incandescent filament. The section through the transition between upper and lower reflector part is represented by a cone section, which is nearly parabolic.

  • Patent number: 4511955
Abstract: A vehicle headlight for providing a shaped beam spreading as a flat bundle. A dish-shaped reflector is employed where the inner reflection surface in the axial longitudinal sections in each case forms an ellipse segment, where the ellipse eccentricity increases from the longitudinal section spanned by the vertical and the reflector axis to the longitudinal section spanned by the horizontal and the reflector axis, where the focal points of the ellipse segments of all sections disposed in planes containing the reflector axis coincide, and where the vertices of the ellipse segments of all sections disposed in planes containing the reflector axis coincide. The depth of the reflector within the longitudinal sections of the reflector containing the reflector axis corresponds to the longer half-axis of the respective ellipse.

  • Patent number: 4423475
Abstract: Multi-compartment lamp for vehicles that has a one-piece sheet-metal lamp holder (5) incorporating, first, sockets (4, 11) consisting of openings (11) for bulbs and of bodies (4) surrounding a base and molded in one piece with the holder or reflector body or with a rear-beam mask (3) and, second, at least one nominal expansion site consisting of a punched-out U-shaped path between the sockets (4, 11), which are widely separated, characterized in that the two parallel legs (15a, 15b) of the U-shaped path are oriented along the direction of the desired lamp-holder expansion and in that the area (15) between the legs (15a, 15b) is bent out of the plane of the lamp holder (5) at an angle of 90.degree..

  • Patent number: 4385345
Abstract: A vehicle headlamp in which an optical unit for a sealed beam is mounted between a carrier ring fixed to the vehicle and a removable cap ring. On the carrier ring two diametrically opposed pins are supported in bearing bushes to be coaxially rotatable and axially displaceable. Both pins are fixed to a resilient clip that bears on cam faces on the outer ends of the bushes. Upon pivoting the clip, the pins are jointly rotated and, by the action of the cam faces are axially oppositely displaced. As they are extended outwards they engage recesses in the cap ring to secure it to the carrier ring. Eccentric portions on the outer ends of the pins thereupon bear on the recesses with further rotation of the pins to draw the cap ring and carrier ring together to grip firmly an interposed rim of the optical unit.

  • Patent number: 4364101
Abstract: Light bulbs of a multi chamber vehicle lamp are inserted into a lamp carrier made of sheet metal. Conductor strips are stamped out of the sheet metal for current conduction. The lamp carrier forms a common mass connection for all light bulbs. The contacting to the respective center pole of the light bulbs is effected directly by the free end portion of the conductor strip which is stamped out from a region of the lamp carrier remote from the light bulb socket. By a deformation of the conductor strip, the end portion is placed on the center axis of the opening accommodating the light bulb, and engages the center pole of the light bulb under pretension.
