Abstract: A high capacity leukocyte depletion filtration media incorporates a high specific surface area components with a matrix of fibers, yielding a filtration medium that removes leukocytes by at least 99.99%. The filtration medium uses a significantly low weight ratio of high specific surface area components to the matrix of fibers. The high specific area creates a multitude of adhesion sites for leukocytes while the low weight ratios allow good filtration flow rates. The filtration medium is incorporated into a filter device for removing leukocytes from biological fluids.

Abstract: An in-line biological liquid filtration system and method comprises a collection container for receiving biological liquid. A filter is located downstream of the collection container and in fluid flow communication therewith. A storage container for receiving filtered biological liquid is located downstream of the filter and the storage container is in fluid flow communication with the filter and with the collection container. An additive solution is located in the storage container. At least one automatic control member automatically restricts a flow of biological liquid or additive solution when flowing the liquid or solution between the collection container and the storage container.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for illuminating a fluid having photosensitive material therein comprising a surface and a roller separated from the surface by a space. The space is adapted to receive a flexible container therein. The flexible container on the surface contacts the roller and the surface for translation through the space. A light source is adapted to transmit light to the space to illuminate the fluid and react with the photosensitive material as the flexible container translates through the space.
