  • Patent number: 4426081
Abstract: The drop target apparatus includes a frame for attachment to the underside of the playfield board of a pinball game. A frame carries a target member which is vertically movable between a raised position above the playfield board and a retracted position. Bias means urges the target member to its retracted position. Latch means hold the target member in its raised position despite the action of the bias means. A recess in the target member receives the pinball. An abutment at the back of the recess when struck by the pinball causes the target member to become unlatched and moved, along with the pinball carried thereby, to its retracted position.

  • Patent number: 4404865
Abstract: A trackball device includes a housing containing a plurality of rotatable supports and a ball seated thereon with a portion of the ball projecting through an opening in the housing for manual rotation by a user. First and second ones of the supports comprise shafts respectively rotatable about orthogonally related axes, the shafts being rotatably mounted in bearings receivable in slots in the housing accommodating slight movement thereof in directions perpendicular to the plane of the ball opening. Bias springs resiliently urge the bearings, and thereby the shafts and ball toward the ball opening. The device may also include illumination means and a light-transmitting ball.

  • Patent number: 4382166
Abstract: A joystick apparatus includes a tiltably mounted tube and a rod reciprocally movably axially therethrough. The tube has a frustoconical first actuator at one end thereof for operating engagement with a selected one or more of a plurality of first switches as the tube is tilted. The adjacent end of the rod carries a part-spherical second actuator for operating engagement with a second switch when the rod is extended from the tube, the shape of the second actuator keeping it in proper operating relationship with respect to the second switch regardless of the position of the tube.

  • Patent number: 4373123
Abstract: The mounting structure includes a block having a bore therein and a stud thereon, their axes being substantially parallel. A leaf spring switch has two leaf springs carried by a body having a pair of bores. The surfaces of the block and the body are in juxtaposition, with the stud extending into one of the bores in the body and a threaded fastener extending through the other of the bores in the body and into the bore in the block.

  • Patent number: 4362300
Abstract: An automatic rebound device for a pinball game has a cylindrical pedestal portion which projects above the playfield board and carries an electric lamp therein, the pedestal having an annular attachment flange at its upper end with vertical openings therein at diametrically opposed points thereon. A hollow circular cap has a cylindrical side wall and two connecting pins projecting beyond the distal edge of the cylindrical side wall for press-fitting engagement in the pedestal openings. The side wall is dimensioned for cooperation with the pedestal to provide a chamber for the electric lamp of sufficient volume to prevent overheating of the cap.

  • Patent number: 4361827
Abstract: Pick-up means convert mechanical vibrations into an electrical signal at a corresponding frequency. The pick-up means is attached to a portion of the vehicle, which is mechanically coupled to the hubcap or wheel cover. A circuit responds to the electrical signal to provide an operating signal to generate an alarm.

  • Patent number: 4331324
Abstract: A lightweight portable lift device for lifting and moving pinball games includes a generally H-shaped horizontal carriage including side beams interconnected intermediate the ends thereof by two closely-spaced crossbeams. Two vertical posts are respectively removably receivable between the crossbeams outboard of the side beams and supported by the carriage, each of said posts comprising telescoping tubes with the inner tubes having longitudinally spaced-apart apertures diametrically therethrough and having the upper ends thereof connected to a small platform engageable with the bottom of an associated pinball game. Jack mechanism is mounted on the crossbeams or on the posts and is coupled to the platform for raising and lowering thereof. Pins tethered to the device are receivable in the post apertures for locking the platform at any predetermined height and removing the load from the jack mechanism. The crossbeams may be pivotally connected to the side beams to provide a foldable carriage.

  • Patent number: 4322082
Abstract: A spinning target assembly for a pinball game includes a molded one-piece frame having a base adapted to be secured to the underside of the playfield board and two spaced-apart upright posts which project through complementary openings in the playfield board and extend a predetermined distance thereabove. A spinner is rotatably mounted between the posts and includes a shaft having an offset central portion which is encapsulated in a molded plastic target. One end of the shaft has secured thereto a cam received in a recess in the top of one post for camming engagement with a connecting rod which extends downwardly through a longitudinal bore in the one post for actuation of the contacts of a switch mounted on the base, and the other end of the shaft is rotatably received in a radial bore in the other post. A cap is removably latched to the top of the one post to retain in place the cam and the associated end of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4013930
Abstract: An electronic door lock has a lockbolt operable between locked and unlocked positions by an electrically energizable bolt mover which is responsive to an electronic locking circuit and an electronic unlocking circuit. A switch actuates the electronic unlocking when the door is to be opened. A control circuit, also responsive to the switch, generates a control signal which is time-delayed by at least a predetermined interval after the actuation of the unlocking circuit. The locking circuit responds to the control signal by energizing the bolt mover so as to move the lockbolt to the locked position, thereby causing the door to be automatically locked after at least the predetermined interval following the unlocking of the door.
