Abstract: The present disclosure describes combination discus locks and associated methods. A lock device configured in accordance with a particular embodiment of the present disclosure includes a discus lock housing, a locking mechanism positioned in the lock housing, and a plurality of rotatable wheels operably coupled to the locking mechanism. The rotatable wheels can individually have a plurality of indicia used to display a combination. The locking mechanism can be configured to move from a locked configuration to an unlocked configuration when the combination is displayed. The lock device can further include a shackle and a slider actuator positioned on an outer surface of the lock housing. The slider actuator can be operably coupled to the shackle and to the locking mechanism, and can be configured to drive the shackle from a closed position to an open position when the locking mechanism is in the unlocked configuration.
Abstract: A word-based combination locking device comprising a body, a locking mechanism and a plurality of wheels. The wheels rotate relative to the body and locking mechanism and display a plurality of letters across the device. The wheels and the letters are configured to simultaneously spell two or more words across the device.
Abstract: The present disclosure describes combination discus locks and methods for using and making the combination discus lock assembly. The locks include a lock body at least partially containing a locking mechanism coupled to a plurality of engagement members with indicia disposed thereon, capable of displaying a combination. An actuator is coupled to the locking mechanism and to a locking member. The locking member is in a closed position, connected to the body, when the combination is not displayed and in an open position, at least partially disengaged from the lock body, when the combination is displayed. The actuator is manipulated to move the locking member from the closed position to the open position. The lock may also be resettable.
Abstract: The present disclosure describes rotary-style combination locks and associated methods of manufacture and use. In one embodiment, a lock includes a locking member movable between locked and unlocked configurations with respect to a housing and a dial having characters around the circumference that align with an indicator to enter the lock's combination. The lock can include combination discs having tabs oriented thereon that allow the lock to have a predefined combination including adjacent characters on the dial.
Abstract: A resettable, combination dial lock assembly has a housing, a shackle, and a dial with indicia thereon. A subset of the indicia defines an unlocking combination. The dial is rotatable relative to the housing to positions corresponding to each of the indica subset. A selector is coupled to the dial. Combination members rotate upon rotation of the dial and are each associated with a respective one of the subset of indicia comprising the combination. Rotary members are coupled to the combination members, wherein rotation of the combination members causes rotation of the rotary members. The rotary members and combination members allow entry of the combination by rotating the dial in any direction and independent of a number of rotations made by the dial for activation of the selector to select each of the indicia comprising the combination to unlock the lock assembly.
