    Abstract: An echolocation device assists visually impaired persons to navigate their environment. The echolocation device comprises a micro control unit, a power source operably connected to the micro control unit, a band pass preamplifier operably connected to the micro control unit, a power amplifier operably connected to the band pass preamplifier, a piezoelectric speaker operably connected to the power amplifier, and a user interface operably connected to the micro control unit. The device emits sound waves that echo off nearby surrounding objects. The visually impaired person listens to the echoes to determine the location or size of the surrounding objects.
