  • Patent number: 7596156
Abstract: A method of stabilising a laser in order to maintain the laser in SLM operation is disclosed. The resonator cavity of the laser is modulated by a modulation signal applied to a piezo-electric transducer 10 coupled to the output coupler 2 of the laser. The modulation signal is also multiplied by a signal indicative of the energy of the laser radiation within the resonator cavity. The product of these two signals is then low-pass filtered to provide an error signal which is additionally applied to the piezo-electric transducer 10 so as to further vary the optical length of the resonator cavity.

  • Patent number: 7333252
Abstract: A method of writing a single or double parallax composite 1-step hologram is disclosed. Digital data is acquired from a real or virtual object and is described by a luminous intensity tensor. A single mathematical transformation is performed to convert the luminous intensity tensor into a mask tensor. The single mathematical transformation transforms the digital data whilst integrally correcting the digital data for the finite distortion of an optical objective. Corrected data, described by the mask tensor, is written on to a spatial light modulator. A laser beam is directed on to the spatial light modulator so that at least a portion of the laser beam is spatially modulated to form a spatially modulated laser beam. The spatially modulated laser beam is then passed through an optical objective having a finite distortion and in combination with a reference recording beam forms a composite hologram.

  • Patent number: 7324248
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing holograms may use a computer generated 3-D model or data generated using multiple 2-D camera images taken of a real 3-D object or scene. The data is digitally processed and displayed on a high resolution spatial light modulator (SLM). A low energy pulsed laser records composite holograms on a holographic emulsion using a special optical design. Restricted or full parallax master transmission or reflection type composite holograms, known as H1 holograms, may be created that can be copied using traditional methods to produce full or single color rainbow white-light transmission holograms, achromatic white-light transmission holograms or single or full-color white-light reflection holograms.

  • Patent number: 7262891
Abstract: A single method and apparatus for producing many of the most common types of hologram from digital data is disclosed. In one embodiment the data are generated entirely by a computer as a 3-D (animated) model. In another embodiment the data are generated from multiple 2-D camera images taken of a real 3-D (moving) object or scene from a plurality of different camera positions. The data are digitally processed and displayed on a small high resolution spatial light modulator (SLM). A compact low energy pulsed laser, which avoids the usual vibration problems encountered at high rates of production and the installation in normal working environments, is used to record composite holograms on an holographic emulsion using a special optical design.

  • Patent number: 7199814
Abstract: A direct write holographic printer for producing RGB color reflection holograms is disclosed. A Nd:YLF crystal (1) in a laser cavity is excited to produce an emission at 1313 nm which is frequency converted by doubling to 656.5 nm and by tripling to 437.7 nm. In a separate cavity a similar Nd:YLF crystal (1a) is synchronously or asynchronously excited to produce an emission at 1047.1 nm (or at the related line of 1053 nm) which is frequency converted by doubling to 523.6 nm (or 526.5 nm). The emissions at 437.7 nm and 656.5 nm are combined co-linearly with the emission at 523.6 nm (or 526.5 nm) to produce a single RGB pulsed laser beam.

The present invention permits the creation of restricted or full parallax master transmission or reflection type composite holograms, known as H1 holograms, that can be copied using traditional methods. Alternatively the same invention and apparatus permits the direct writing of hologram without the need to pass through the intermediate stage of the H1 transmission hologram.
